We booked here as a treat for my daughters birthday, a night in a 4* hotel with cream tea(awful) and swimming pool (only good point of our stay)! We were greeted by a receptionist who seemed pleasant enough but informed us straight away that the children's packs promised upon booking weren't available. As soon as we got to our room... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night and we had an evening meal, which was really nice, I had fish & chips with mushy peas and it was presented well, on a wood platter with a news paper (not real) the chips were served in a micro deep fryer basket & they were perfect. My wife had a skillet... Stayed here for 2 nights and was booked because of the four star ratings. We were welcomed by a very pleasant receptionist. The bedroom however was far from pleasant. there was black mould on the bathroom tiles over the bath (which I have seen photos of on tripadvisor since), there was rubbish on the wardrobe after the previous guests and... The room 69 might be a lure to some people expecting a exotic stay, but the reality is that in this suite all eastern promise would be out of the windows, directly over the kitchens by the way and dampened by the crash of empty bottles being tipped into a skip. The suite consisted of two floors, one was a lounge and bathroom,shower... Very nice hotel. Beautiful gardens. Swimming pool was good worth a visit if your staying in the hotel. Only fault was in the evening we sat in the bar area for a bite to eat and there was no staff about manning the bar. We had to wait for a while to be served then as soon as the bar... More

This is a mix of old and newish, a lovely old building for the old part which houses the reception area bar restaurant and seating areas, a beautiful stair case and wonderful windows. Reception is large and slightly dark. Reception staff are really friendly The seating areas are ample, bar is nice with loads of seating and friendly staff, and... More

Good hotel with nice grounds and reception rooms ideal for weddings. Friendly staff and good food. Drinks a little expensive but that's what you expect from a hotel of this caliber. Plenty of little lounge areas with comfy seating. Would benefit from the area to the toilets been redecorated in the function room as its looking a little tired. Overall... More

Thank you for your review. Sometimes we liken to the Forth Road Bridge, there is always some painting and decorating taking place in the hotel. The lounges are due for some redecoration soon, we are just waiting for a wall to dry out that was damaged during a recent downpour. This will be coupled with a thorough overhaul to the... More

Stayed here for 2 weeks recently for a course nearby and felt the hotel just missed the mark on more than one point. Arrived on the Sunday to windows open.I know it's summer but it was raining and cold, oh and Britain so not that warm. The next night it was still cold (windows are old and warped so didn't... More

This is an excellent venue for weddings. Affordable yet scenic with superb staff. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Our wedding catered to between 70-100 people and the hotel felt spacious and comfortable. The good weather highlighted the garden area which felt spacious yet secluded. We had universal praise for the catering, the food was quite simply superb and... More
