My son had his wedding reception here last weekend and we booked all of the rooms for friends and family. The reception itself was absolutely faultless, the food, standard of service and attention to detail was second to none. The staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were all spotlessly clean, many had four poster... more

When we came to check uot the mnager said that they were wrong and the charge was £15.00. Contacted Active Hotels several times to complain, but nothing was done Room had furniture... more

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. On arrival room was freezing as the radiator was turned off but this was rectified fairly promptly. Room was shabby chintz, holes in the doors, mouldy bathroom and extremely dodgy locks on the doors that looks like somebody had kicked it in and filthy artifical flowers yuk. One night was very noisy due... more

We stayed at Hollins Hey last year for our first visit to Liverpool and had no hesitation booking again for the Liverpool Sound Concert last weekend. Hollins Hey Hotel and Restaurant is full of character, comfortable and very different to the many modern souless hotels of today. The management and all staff are very smart and professional, also very friendly and helpful. This is... more

My son and I unexpectedly found ourselves at this hotel when we were transferred to it at the last minute by Travelodge who phoned us to say that our booking at their Liverpool Central hotel had to be cancelled for ‘health and safety’ reasons (we were compensated by them for the move). We had a little difficultly finding the hotel... more

I have stayed in many places during my travels, but may I say that what you see on the website is by no means what you get. Starting with the Hotel , the grand facade belies the less than nice room I stayed in. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall. The radiator so hot was to me a breach... more

Not quite Fawlty Towers despite the egocentric owner. The rather tired decor gives it a comfortable feeling that will be described as charming by some, and drab by others. Torn wallpaper, poor lighting and noisy plumbing in our room could (and should) all be fixed at little cost to bring this hotel up to the standard to which it aspires.... more

The hollins hey hotel; I had read both reviews prior to staying at the hollins hey and i was expecting the usual, a common hotel. Due to my job, I stay in alot of hotels all over the country and i tend to find them to all be the same, friendly staff, ok food, ok room and nothing special. I... more

Stayed there with some trepidation after reading the other review. My experience appears to be exactly the opposite to the earlier posting. I was welcomed warmly, offered porterage to a lovely room with sea view, and although overlooking the train line I heard no noise - the location was very quiet. Restaraunt was excellent and for the price overall it... more

I arrived with my grandaughter on her 9th birthday to what i can only call the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. We got off the train after a long and tiring journey to look across the road happy to see the hotel, but when we arrived at the front entrance there was a padlock on the gate. We... more
