I was in Wootton Bassett for an event held locally and took a walk in to the centre to find somewhere for lunch. Our eyes were caught by a sign advertising roast and we decided to go inside. It was a cosy little pub that had a relaxing atmosphere. There weren't any menus on the tables so it meant browsing... More

We had a delicious Sunday lunch yesterday, the meat was lovely, a good selection of veg all freshly cooked, just like home cooking. The pub is certainly not the most modern but the food makes up for it.

We live in Royal Wootton Bassett and eat at different restaurants and hotels from time to time. Last night we had dinner at the Crown Hotel which was very good and freshly cooked. The main course of rump steak was tender and perfectly cooked, and nothing wrong with the starter or dessert. Good sized portions and friendly service. A decent... More

Stopped here for lunch and received a great welcome from the landlady. Food was extremely good and reasonably priced. Very friendly inn and well worth a visit. Royal Wootton Bassett is an attractive town and The Crown is conveniently situated with on street parking.

Have had a meal at the Crown Hotel this evening and have to say it is very good value for money. The Pate was excellent and for a change was served with plenty of toast, a must for a generous Pate serving. The main course chosen was roast beef off the specials board at under £8-00. Very good beef with... More

Crown Hotel - Royal Wootton Bassett Off road parking on grass through a very narrow access way. Met by grim looking guy who was very sarcastic he showed us to the room along a badly sloping landing. Room definitely in need of serious update. Very dingy lighting. We had to move furniture to plug in the clock and bedside light.... More

This is a very noisy establishment, but it is a working pub, complimentary ear plugs wouldn't go a miss. The staff are friendly. The location is nice. The rooms are clean. Would recommend but maybe bring some ear plugs if your a light sleeper.

I booked The Crown, had good write ups & thought it was a double, but was twin bed, advert says Double/Twin, quite confusing. On arrival waited at the bar for ages, then shown the room by a miserable bloke, down a corridor with loads of old coats hanging in the corner like a tip, a landing on a ski slope... More

We arrived late, after a really busy day. Jackie, the land lady welcomed us straight away. We were offered food even though the chef was just about to finish. The rooms were clean and tidy. Had a nice drink at the bar. All the staff were friendly. Overall, I would say this is a lovely place to stay.
