This abode is a must stay if you are lucky enough to tour England and enjoy British hospitality at its best. The ultimate in room decor, cleanliness and pristine manchester it is not. Numerous dead blow flies, blown light globes and partly used shampoo bottle in the mouldy wet area (we outlayed 12 pounds 50 at the local Sainsbury's for... More

My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at the guest house. The owners are great with people-warm and welcoming. The room was a fantastic value and included a full English breakfast. They were able to do a vegetarian English breakfast with no hassle. They formally owned a pub, and you can tell that they are experienced with dealing with... More

The couple that runs this first house are lovely and very talkative. The breakfast is great and just like granny used to make when you were a kid ... amazing! The beds are comfy and the rooms are very big and spacious. Yes it is a tad outdated and a bit dusty but the hotel offers so much more. Look... More

Having been let down by another hotel a room at the Bowden was booked. Lovely welcome from a genuine couple who made you feel right at home. Great nights sleep and a full English breakfast that was yummy. Well done the Bowden would book again.

We stayed here at the weekend for 1 night, got there late and left early, the rooms are huge and the beds comfy. Breakfast was nice, lots of food on the plate and decent bacon! Only thing I would say is the rooms could do with a deep clean more often, as I couldn't mention this to them at the... More

Stayed here one night, due to wedding in the area. We were given keys to come back at any time. The couple were lovely and very accommodating. We had a large room on the ground floor, probably designed for a family. The breakfast was flexible with time, and plentiful, a good fry up. The weather was extremely hot, so I... More

We stayed one night when we were passing through and thought it was livable. The rooms are spacious but overpriced. The place wasn't as clean as I would expect for the price and the food was just ok. If you need a place to rest for the night then this place is better than a night in the car, but... More

My partner and I were very happy with the Guesthouse owned by a lovely husband and wife team. About a 5 minutes walk from Melksham and half hour from Bath. We were welcomed nicely and was shown very nice hospitality and chat at breakfast, where we enjoyed our (one-off) full English breakfast. The couple were very helpful in telling us... More
