Dear opticritic Hmmm, I'm not sure you are writing the truth about our B&B, have you actually stayed at here?, as we a have no record of a single Spanish guest staying with us in the last six months. Perhaps you are mistaking us for someone else or maybe you are just being malicious! regards The Old Forge More

We have just returned from a brief stay at The Old Forge and found it and its owners first class in every respect. My partner and i arrived early on in the day and found our ground floor lodgings clean and tidy with fresh milk in the fridge and a full welcome pack awaiting. We felt at home from the start... More

We recently stayed in The Old Forge while on holiday in England. I had been to the area before but my husband had never been to England before so I wanted to find comfortable, charming places not quite on the beaten path. I wanted to show him Avebury and Stonehenge so The Old Forge was in the perfect location. Our... More

Good sized room with access to a full tub. Feather pillows, feather duvet and feather pillow-top bed. Great night's sleep! Shower was a little funny and the pressure wasn't great, but not bad. Breakfast was delicious with local sausages and spectacular mushrooms. Very close to the Avebury Stone Henge, Long Barrow + Silbury Hill. More

Our room was large, comfotable and attractively decorated with ochre coloured walls and lots of thoughtful touches such as a bookcase full of books. It had its own entrance just by the front door, an en suite bathroom with bath and shower and a small kitchen. It gave the feel of staying in a cottage of ones own, but with... More

My mother and I recently stayed for four nights at The Old Forge. We were in the twin room with a kitchenette. This was a very nice feature for an evening meal in. Breakfast was provided in the main house in a lovely space off the open kitchen and was one of the best English breakfasts I have had. Their... More

We stayed in the double room with en-suite shower for two nights midweek. The Old Forge is lovely but it IS a rare case of a B&B looking better on its website than it does in real life. We would also question the claim on its website that wi-fi is available "throughout the house" - it wasn't in our room... More

We wanted a base for exploring the many ancient sites on the Wiltshire Plain, as well as the cities of Windchester and Salisbury, plus relatively easy access to one of the motorways to get us to Heathrow after our stay. East Kennett turned out to be perfect. And the Old Forge was entirely charming, Pleasant, accommodating hosts, a beautifully decorated... More
