We spent one night when passing through the town. It is an old hotel so has limitations (eg: no lift) but our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. Our evening meal and breakfast very good, and the staff could not have been more helpful. more

Good service, helpfull and friendly staff , confident without being cocky ,Evening meal adequate, breakfast excellent. Good base for visiting Silbury Hill, Avebury etc. Big bedroom at front of hotel, Original Oak beams and most likely floor boards. Very creaky and uneven but part of the buildings character. Good modern bathroom but noisy plumbing from adjacent rooms. Comfy bed but... more

If you need to stay in town, ideally placed.we got anice room with good sized bathroom although the stairs are not for anyone with even the slightest dissability.Good breakfast ,evening meal average pub grub. - Poor shower, dangerous stairs, slow service in dining room.Paper thin bedroom walls made for poor nights sleep. more

The staff were very helpful and attentive. The decoration was sympathetically done in keeping with the charm and the age of the hotel. The food was delicious and we ate in the restaurant both evenings of our stay. There was a good choice of breakfast, hard to choose. We would recommend that you breakfast early though because the hotel seemed... more

My wife and I stayed on the excellent winter rate of £24.95p total price for the two of us including breakfast. For what we paid it was good value, but it would not have been if the price had been higher. The bar and lounge area are pleasant with a nice living flame fire being a prominent feature. The room we... more

I stayed there for 3 nights in September. I found the service excelent, the rooms were well fitted out. The only negative thing was the evening food was not as exceptional as the breakfast. I have been in the catering industry for 34 years and these meals are adquate, but after the first night I ate out. Try the Silks... more

Louise and Vance Telford, Shropshire We chose this hotel off the Old English Inns web site on a late booking. The offer was great value and I decided to book it even though the reviews were not very complementary. This proved to be a good decision as we had a fantastic weekend in a comfortable hotel, in a great location.... more

We stayed there for one night on our honeymoon trip through England and it was the worst experience on our whole trip. The reception guy was very unfriendly and we felt like everything else than a appreciated guest. We have booked according to the concierge the best room and it was really spacoius with an amazing four poster bed. It... more

The pub / hotel is situated on the main shopping street in Marlborough, a quaint town which has a street market 2 days per week. The hotel entrance is to the rear, avoiding the need to carry your luggage through the pub area. The hotel also has free car parking to the rear. The pub is clean, airy and modern... more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. It makes a mockery of the word 'service'. It is truly one of the worst places I have ever stayed in years and years of hotel visits. They put huge dampner on my wedding because of their complete misunderstanding of how to treat their guests. John Cleese would have been proud. Where to start?... more
