Walking into the Restaurant you would expect something special. The Bar staff very friendly. Unfortunately the Food was awful. Chips well over cooked and a majority of them Black not fit for human consumption. Steak not prepared as per request... very very poor you would expect a high level of food standards for the very high prices. I would put... More

Beautiful countryside location, quaint thatched building. The room reasonable , looking generally tired though. Walls need sound proofing as showers and toilet noises clearly heard from neighbouring bedroom. No help and advice or local information notices available, even had to ask when breakfast was served. The biggest disappointment was Breakfast, I ordered full English but when it arrived it barely... More

The excellent owner/chef, Justin, sold out to a French buyer in mid-July, to retire. The new chef will have a great deal to live up to, as I think the quality of the food and its cooking is unsurpassed in this area. Watch this space!

I visited the Shears with some work colleagues. The food was second to none, especially the salted caramel tart. The pub is in beautiful surroundings, welcomes dogs and the staff were welcoming and friendly

I agree with Travelling Welsh Boy in that there are positive changes that could be made here. We found the repeated growling and barking greeting from the resident dog off-putting and also the menu was quite limited for those who enjoy a simpler meal. However, the food was well-cooked and enjoyable. The chips were particularly delicious. The thin walls leave... More

This is our second visit to The Sheers. Justin and the food/bar staff are excellent....the only downside is the rooms have paper thin walls. Whilst what I am about to write is not directly the teams problem they should be aware of the issue...our neighbour in room 2 is completely rude and has been talking loudly on the phone for... More

My parents have just moved into the area and decided to visited The Shears today for a family birthday celebration. We were a family party of 10. All of us had a thoroughly lovely time and enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast. Couldn't fault the food in any way. Portions were fab, fresh and definitely home made. My hungry teenagers couldn't... Came here as part of my husbands 60th birthday treat, he was stationed at Larkhill when he was with the Royal Artillery Will gloss over the first night as mistakes happen but the second night was perfection and we are so glad we decided to have our second meal at the Shears. The people are so friendly and we came... More
