Spent on night here with my wife & her parents joined us. The pub is in the middle of nowhere & didn't know what to expect. But, upon arrival the outside garden was beautiful. Hanging baskets of flowers & the staff happily mingled with customers. We were given our keys & found the rooms clean, neat & tidy. Both were... More

We stayed with friends for one night. Location lovely and close to Netheravon where we going for the Skydiving Centre. The bar was cosy and the Red Beer excellent. Rooms were clean and had everything you needed for a stay for a few nights. But the best part was the food. It was excellent with a unique selection of starters... More

The rooms are fine ,although we were given the family room which was of average size I guess the other rooms to be smalller ? The beer selection is poor although they do have some local ciders .The restaurant is a victory for style over content .The cod and chips was all presentation and no taste ,putting food on blocks... I stayed at the shears for two weeks whilst working in the area. The accommodation was very comfortable and the managers could not do enough to make me feel at home during my stay. Over the two weeks I ate here nearly every night, the food is of a high standard and offered enough variety that I could have something... More

I was extremely disappointed in this hotel/B n B, if it wasn't for our work booking us am over night stay here we would never have chosen it, purely because it's so expensive and so out of the way. We travelled for 8 hours to arrive here in the middle of nowhere, at 11 o clock at night, we have... More

Visited on Monday lunch time (this was our third, having previously been for lunch and dinner and had enjoyable meals) the pub is lovely, it's a typical country pub. The service is very hit and miss, barman off hand, I asked for menus only to be told in a very patronising way that it was on the blackboard behind me...silly... More

We spent two very pleasant nights here in wonderful weather so we could eat on the patio after walking in the lane and fields which surround this lovely building. When I got home I realised I had left my shoes behind which the owner posted to me first class post. Highly recommended.

I was a little concerned after reading previous reviews but decided to give it a go. So pleased we did, will be returning. We were welcomed and served drinks husband was unsure which ale to have so was offered tasters. I asked if we needed to book a table, was told no and was invited to choose a table so... More

This inn had a very good reputation some years ago, regrettably it has gone down hill since then. Arrived and checked that food was being served and was advised there would be a wait, even though it was mid week and early evening with only four tables occupied. Menu looked inviting if a little expensive for a county inn, nothing... More

This is a country pub in a lovely setting and beautiful building. We met a friend here for dinner after reserving a table. The staff was very sluggish in filling drink and food orders, and not particularly friendly. The menu is very pricey for pub grub that is not top notch. I would not recommend, and will not likely return.
