4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 NEW

I stayed for two nights whilst attending some dear friends wedding. The room I had allocated was in an annexe on the ground floor inbetween the two car parks. Access was via a corridor and you wouldnt have to go outside to get from the main building to the annexe. Decor needs some updating but it was spotlessly clean and... More

Having read a number of reviews on this hotel i was not expecting it to be so good. There is obviously a difference between the rooms as the hotel is undergoing a gradual upgrade. The rooms in the main house being of a better decorative standard than those in the Court House at the rear (sandwiched in between the car... More

This hotel was lovely to stay at, and Malmesbury is a fantasic town to visit. Friedly and helpful staff, a central location, and a great restuarant. If you're staying in Malmesbury this is the hotel to stay at. There are some great little pubs in the main street too.

Having been assigned a rather small, unremarkable room in the extension - the hotel staff kindly upgraded us to the main hotel where the rooms are gorgeous (bathrooms have roll top baths you could fit a whole family in!) and look out over the ancient Abbey. The food in the main dining room was good and we had two lovely... More

My Husband and I first discovered this place when we first got together. Since then we have returned three times over the last 6 years. Its a place you have to save for, on our budget anyway. The rooms are small and quirky with plenty of character. The Showers run hot and cold which is the main downfall but it... More

This old house in the middle of England holds a really good hotel with genuine service and good comfort. Although not modern, the rooms are refurbished with restored genuine details. Excellent service with a feeling that the staff really cares about their guests well being. Free internet with quite good access speed. There are small details to mark, but for... More

We live locally and visit this hotel regularly for coffee and lunch. It has to be said that The Old Bell looks the part. It is covered in wisteria, sits next to the wonderful Abbey and, externally, promises all manner of delights. However, the unpolished and tatty brass on the front door in particular and throughout the hotel is not... More

We stayed there at the start of April for one night. We had a Superior room for the night, which was clean but didn't really feel superior to anything given the price we paid for it. The service when we arrived was friendly but nothing more really. The bar area with an open fire was nice and service was good,... More

we stayed here fri 22nd march we were booked into the coach house which was the only room available. Our first impression with the reception was un- friendly if not surly, no offer of help with bags or shown to room, we had to find our own way, corridor to the coach house narrow and drab, the room small and... Had Sunday lunch with a couple of friends who are house sitting in the area. It came highly recommended but have to say it was a little disappointing. The restaurant was virtually empty ( at £29.50 per head perhaps not surprising) and a little cold. Service was good, wine list fantastic range of choices if a little expensive and the... More
