We stayed in this historic inn for two nights in April . Can't fault the staff or food. They coped with my gluten free diet well but I did warn them before I arrived.Lovely. Room with massive bed and large bathroom .Marble floor, so take care when wet! Have booked to return next year bring the rest of our family.

We stayed in The Old Bell because it was just around the corner from a friend's house and we were going to a party there. They could not have been more helpful. We stayed out very late, called the night porter for late night access, fell around in our room like drunken idiots and nobody complained. It was exceptionally comfortable... More

I do recommend this hotel - the location is excellent and the facilities good. The breakfast was extensive and delicious and the staff delightful. However I was very disappointed by the bed, not hard to get right! Not only were the only available pillows horrible fake foam - which may be hypoallergenic but aren't remotely comfy, but the 'double bed'... More

I visited with my husband, aunt and cousin for a pre dinner drink before dining at a local restaurant on 21 March. I was looking forward to taking family to the oldest hotel in England as it was our first visit. On arrival at the hotel bar we noticed the bar area was empty but there was a couple sitting... More

We are very sorry to hear that your first experience of The Old Bell Hotel was a bad one. Sadly on this night a number of factors including a busy wedding party in one of our lounges and the setting up of a large dinner service, stopped us being able to serve guests without booking for a short window of... For years my wife and I have looked for an old style hotel in England. Not too modernised, but with charm and comfort. The Old Bell fits the bill. It is a bit of a warren but that I part of the charm. Service was excellent and very friendly.. The food was good but not exceptional. At £99 per night... More

Oldest hotel in England is an epithet that may very well be true but it certainly doesn't show. Now, the property has charm but I would say more so from the outside more so than from the inside- beauty is only skin deep - comes to mind. Rooms a bit noisy but equipped with comfortable beds and working heating system.... More

This hotel has been in the same family for many generations and offers superb accommodation of a very high level, excellent cuisine and a wide choice of menu with wonderful log fires in the many small lounges where you can enjoy a pre meal drink or a relaxing coffee after a large and tasty meal. The Old Bell is open... More

Stopped here for a mid-morning drink while visiting Malmesbury. Spoilt for choice for comfy seating spread out over the whole of the ground floor. Beautifully decorated and clean, friendly staff and really nice atmosphere - only wish we were staying there as well! Would definately recommend a visit if in the area.

My partner took me to the Old Bell for Valentine's weekend. I knew we were going away but didn't know where. Arriving at the hotel, with the Abbey beside it was breathtaking. On arrival, we were welcomed and escorted to the Athelstan Suite. Entering the room through the old arched doorway, it just got better and better. Our room was... More

I stayed here with my boyfriend on Valentine's night. The room was in the old part of the hotel so had character, and was provided with an extra heater which was good on the cold night with the old window. The bathroom was a little well-worn in places i.e. bath panel was tired looking, and there were a few cobwebs... More
