Just returned from a fantastic 2 night break at this charming country inn. We stayed in the Grouse suite. The room was clean, warm and well equipped. We decided to dine on both evenings in the bar. The food was of high standard and cooked to perfection. The roaring log fire within the bar area adds to the ambience of... More

My wife and I stayed here again last year after having previously stayed in 2012. On our first stay, we had what clearly is the best room (Ptarmigan) and it was superb! On our second stay, we had a room (sorry - can't remember now whether it was 'Woodcock', 'Snipe' or 'Pheasant') that seemed to be from a completely different... More

We stayed just the one night and weren't expecting much. We were wrong on all fronts. The room was nicely furnished and lacked nothing. It was remarkably big, easily accommodating the double sofa bed set up for our teenage son. The bathroom was equally large, though basic, but all the towels and toiletries were in place. We were in the... More

Stayed overnight here and had excellent food and drinks which I could not complain about in any way. It's a nice pub in a nice village and everyone is very friendly. The room on the other hand was basic, the bed was knackered and groaned on each and every move you made, the bathroom was tired and in need of... More

Warm, cosy and friendly, with a lovely bar, and a fine restaurant with interesting choices. This is the ideal spot for a stopover between London and the West Country. Good rooms, but I has to ask for an extra heater, as the rads in the room weren't coping with the cold snap. The heater was brought immediately, and the problem... More

We stay at the Angel twice a year with family as it is about halfway between our respective homes. It has a lovely sunny courtyard in the summer time and a welcoming and cosy bar in the winter time. The Inn offers casual dining in the bar area or something more formal in the dining room for a special occasion.... More

We have visited this inn three times and on each occasion have been delighted with the quality of food, beverages and the excellent service . This is a quintessentially English pub and a great "local" for our recent month long stay n Semley just 10 minutes drive away. Such a lovely village with the Angel at its heart .

We stayed at this inn when it was the Grosvenor Arms. Back then it was a normal looking pub: swirly carpets and bad furniture BUT once through the bar and at the far end of the dining room, behind a glass wall was a eye watering vision - an all singing stainless steel state of the art kitchen with a...
