Apart from the owner letting himself into our room while we we in it, (huge shock!!), we had a lovely stay in an idealic location. Great service from British staff!!! Food was fantastic! Reasonable bar prices. The hotel needs a refurb but is spotlessly clean. One negative is that their "double" bed is two singles pushed together!! Great base for... More

Last minute booking on the spur of the moment and we were lucky to get the last double room available as the hotel is often fully booked now. In fact, the room was a mini-suite in an annexe and was just perfect for a Sat night w/e away Dinner and pre-meal drinks were very good; in particular the local cheese... More

A pleasant stay at a lovely hotel. The staff (and there where plenty of them) were friendly and attentive, without being overly so. The meal in the evening was well cooked and presented and breakfast was everything you would expect. I would happily recommend it. Just a shame that I was working and didn't have the opportunity to explore the... More

This hotel has the following major plusses: Characterful and comfortable Excellent friendly staff Owners who are in evidence and care deeply about the service offered Fantastic food (traditional English, locally sourced) Very reasonable packages including breakfast and dinner Superb location close to Malmesbury, Bath and Westonbirt Arboretum to name a few The only disadvantage is that it is not easy... After a two hour drive from home we were welcomed by a friendly face in Reception and having checked in, our suitcase was carried by a member of staff to our 1st floor room which faced a tree -lined garden and lawn. The room and en-suite were spotless, our beds were comfortable and our half-board booking for 3 nights looked... More

Excellent hotel, staff and food, and the proprietor had a wonderful smile all the time. Our Probus group received the best attention at all times. It was the perfect centre for visiting local attractions.

From 12/4/03 to 15/4/03 i stayed at this hotel with a large group of friends, i found the rooms lovely and the food to be excellent value but what i was most impressed with was the friendly staff who always had a smile and were exceedingly efficient. They made the weekend a very enjoyable experience.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights from 17th March. Spent most of my time in the hotel as my fiancé attended a course nearby and I have to say the level of hospitality and service afforded to me was absolutely brilliant in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. An example of such service was on our first morning when... More

We went to Mayfield House as the result of a Travelzoo offer, mainly on the promise of a gourmet dining experience. The hotel was functional, rather than luxurious and, from a decor point of view, felt like a trip back into the 'seventies'. There was a definite 'corporate branding/cost saving' feel, rather than a 'push the boat out' feel about... More
