We were staying in Amesbury to visit our Son at the barracks in Tidworth, it was only 20 minutes down the road, so very convenient for us. It's also great for anyone wanting to visit Stonehenge. We ended up at The George Hotel after a nightmare stay at the nearby Travelodge, the previous night. It was all very last minute... More

Having arrived early am on my arrival date i was not expecting to see my room untill around the normal check in times that hotels always seem to use these days. However i was made very welcome and a room was found in order that i could settle in. The owners and staff were all very helpful and friendly.Great all... More

This place is OK. All it needs is a complete refurb, a bit more care taken cleaning the rooms and Hey Presto! You have a great hotel & business. The food is great and value for money. The breakfast bar layout needs to be looked at. It doesn't 'flow'. Be careful if your room is at the front of the... More

Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Everything was generally clean but extremely worn and in need of being updated. Would happily stay again. The sports bar has a very pleasant atmosphere but is in urgent need of updating.

You have to bear in mind that the George is an old conversion of a rambling historic building, and yes, a refurb is long overdue. That said although my room was a bit tatty, the linen was spotless, the mattress was surprisingly comfortable ( and clean... I checked ), and the facilities were adequate. More importantly the staff were a... More

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever booked into & after seeing the room checked out. The room was on the second floor at the end of a long & restricted corridor, the floor of the room was uneven & sloped about 6 inches from one side to the other, the beds were discussing, you would not... We have no complaints at all, staff helpful, accomodation more than adequate, food very good in quality and price, drinks not too expensive, price very competetive. Would not hesitate to use this hotel again. I think that some people [wingers] expect too much for their money, after all if you expect the Savoy go to the Savoy!
