we stayed over New Year's 2010/11, We paid top dollar. $450 per night. There is absolutely no service. Beds not made until after 4 pm and 2 telephone calls. Good food, but always cold. Breakfast was a buffet, however, when you went to your seat you could not get a knife and fork for 10 mins. Coffee you were lucky... More

we booked pelican eyes again after having a great experience a couple of years ago...what a let down :-( we had to wait more than an hour at the airport (nowhere to sit, stand comfortably) as the other people the driver was picking up were late arriving.....no real apology for that....the rooms are great...except...ants everywhere (as in the whole resort,... Ideal location with a spectacular view of the town of San Juan del Sur. The bar is also very good with a great view and excellent food. Spa is good and well-priced as well. However, staying at the Pelican was the WORST hotel experience that I had while traveling throughout Nicaragua, during which I stayed in 7 different hotels over... More

While the hotel is beautiful and the casas beautifully furnished and large, there is absolutely no customer service! We were here during the week between Christmas and New Year's, and during that time there was one private party at the main pool and bar area, in which guests were not allowed (unless they wanted to pay to get into the... Certainly the most touristy of our destinations in Nicaragua but still worthwhile for the beautiful, crescent beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. Concierge was very helpful booking a surf trip for the DW. I thought the room decor was a little peculiar (think Flintstones) but otherwise, comfortable and very roomy. Most (all?) rooms have a large, shaded patio with... More

A little gem in SJDS. Ask for a lower room if you want easy access to town. I stayed at the lowest unit (cabina Jasmine). The views are great, it is right next to the lower pool and town is right below you. Upper rooms can be great for views and privacy, but you have to navigate several hundred stairs... More

Just wonderful, could not of asked for a better experience. The location is beautiful, pool beautiful, and the food and drinks were of excellent quality. Truly a relaxing, refreshing change of pace. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We had done our homework on Pelican Eyes from numerous guide books, trip advisor and individual accounts / referrals, so had a sense of the good (spectacular views, nice rooms, resort feel), the bad (spotty customer service) and the ugly (general apathy / responsiveness to issues). With that mixed bag, we had apprehension booking Pelican Eyes given our time was... More

The La Cascada restaurant is incredible... great food and a beautiful view. Order your meal, grab a cocktail (the Dragonfruit Margarita is good!) then step into the pool while you wait. The hotel itself is in a top position overlooking the bay. The rooms/ apartments are extremely roomy and are close enough to walk home to day or night. At... More

Perfect if you need a house to stay in while you are on vacation or working. The individual houses are outstandingly equipped with all that is needed for an extended stay or weekend away. While each house or habitacion is different, most that I saw have a bathroom with each room and massive fully equipped kitchens. Highly recommended if heading... More
