Our group of four was looking for somewhere to go after Sunday Funday (and Pachu Mama) and found this place. Got a five bed dorm for the four of us at a competitive rate for the town. Had our own bathroom, a couple tables right outside the room, and several fans in the room. Although we didn't use the kitchen,... More

I looked at a few budget hotel and hostel options in the area and decided upon Casa romano. I took a double bedroom with bathroom and fan for $25 per night for 3 nights. it was newly painted, fresh sheets and a very clean and well looked-after feel. I didn't have the problems with the mosquitoes that other travellers had,... More

The hostels we had planned to stay at were all booked out so the three of us stumbled on this gem. Great prices, great room, location, very clean and the best wifi in Nicaragua. Its run by a lovely family who are so helpful. One of our nights there was a tsunami warning and the family came and woke us... More

After spending a few days at another hostel in SJDS we moved to Casa Romano. The family at Casa Romano are lovely and friendly without being overbearing. They are helpful and available when needed but not in your face- you get more of a feeling of being a guest in their lovely family home rather than hotel service. Simple and... More

No problems with staff they even let me do my own laundry. The shower was amazing and without ac this was the coldest room in sjds we stayed in. Close to the beach and market. Private rooms are cute and clean

This guest house kept popping up as a good place to stay but, without a map of SJDS we headed to the road it was on by chance (the Lonely Planet recommended a few other places on the same street). We were really happy when we stumbled across it, half a block from the beach. The rooms are basic but... More

This place is quite average. The beds are comfortable but there are a ridiculous amount of mosquitoes in the room. There is no hot water, yet the staff does not mention this before you pay. Our last day here we invited a friend over who had been traveling from Costa Rica. From the second he arrived we felt uncomfortable because... More

This is a lovely hostel in San Juan del Sur. We nicknamed it Casa de Mujeres because it was run predominantly by women and as female travelers we felt very safe and tranquil there. The rooms are clean, simple and equipped with a very secure lock. The hostel itself is a beautiful old building with antique built-ins which lend to... More

My friend and I stayed in Casa Romano for two nights at the end of our trip. We struggled to find anything available in town that weekend, and we were so lucky to wander into Casa Romano. Not only it was great value ($25 for double room with fan),but also the cleanest place ever with lovely owners. You can relax... More

The first impression from this place is lovely. It's clean and seems to be well run, but like some other reviewers, I just did not feel comfortable coming, going & doing as I please. It's like staying at a friend of a friend's you hardly know, and you're afraid to touch anything. The girl with curly hair is unhappy and... More
