The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions, they also helped greatly with booking shuttles crossing the boarder. Feels very safe at night, and is quite up on the hill (which also give fantastic views of the entire bay) but you are only 1 minute from the restaurants and beach. The terrace is lovely for breakfast and relaxing,... More

This place is excellent. Its location is suitable because you're in town, near everything you need, but you don't deal with crowded streets full of cars and people or the noise from parties. You can walk wherever you want to go. You get your money's worth for the accommodations, which are clean and spacious, and having breakfast included is a... More

This hotel is small and cozy. I stayed in the room with kitchen. It is clean, has a good double bed/matras and private bathroom. Wifi works in the room and there is even a TV. They have a garden downstairs and a great big rooftop terrace with a nice swing and a lot of seats overlooking San Juan and the... More

Pros: The Great Staff was so helpful with recommendations on restaurants, excursions, etc. The Garden had a beautiful view from garden area of downtown SJDS Location was an easy 3-5 minute walk in town but up a hill so a bit quiter Cons: "Free Breakfast" consisted of 2 pancakes and Folger's Coffee. Went into town after 1st day Rooms are... More

We had only planned to stay a couple of nights but after a problem getting bus tickets we had to extend it to a week and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Breakfast of pancakes was nice and after two days it swapped to egg, cheese and ham on... More

Yes there is a pleasant stroll up a brick street to get to this nice little place with views of town and the ocean. A simple breakfast is served on the rooftop patio and the girls at the desk are as friendly and helpful as any in Nicaragua. Our room was small, but had 2 fans and a cold shower.... More

Brother and I recently stayed at both locations (San Juan del sur 1.5 weeks & Managua 1 night). Enjoyed our time at both spots which are located perfectly in both cities. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Nice to have free breakfast and kitchen available for our use. Felt very safe in both locations and would highly recommend staying at... More

The staff is very friendly at Maracuya. It is decently priced, and in a great location. The hill sucks a little bit if it is raining and late at night, but VERY worth it. The view is to die for. When we visited there was a lightning storm, and we were able to see the whole ocean light up! The... More

Maracuya is a lovely place to stay at whilst in SJdS. It is not quite budget hostel, neither luxury hotel, so a good middle-ground option. It is very centrally located, but also up a bit of a hill and thus away from all the noise which can be a real issue those staying on the beach-front at night time or... More

The best thing about this hotel is the staff: they are friendly and fluent in English. The room itself is soul-less and badly decorated. That said: This is a budget hotel. It's clean. It's not on the main drag of SJDS so it escapes some of the street noise. It felt safe. It has a fridge. There's free wifi. It's... More
