This hotel is located in the centre of San Juan. So perfect location. Hotel and rooms are quiet with lovely gardens. Rooms are clean and with air con. Staff and night guard were friendly. The price was reasonable for the hotel. Would recommend to others!

The hotel is two blocks from the beach. It was safe and somewhat quiet. The three single beds in the little room left 10 inches between the beds. Yeah, the TV worked and the A/C blew cold. Bathroom was also small. Why don't these places install more hooks or shelves in the bathroom for travelers? Breakfast was quaint and satisfactory.

Upon getting an email from Hotel Azul Pitahaya that they made a mistake and were full the first night of our booking, I decided not to freak, and it turned out fine. Room was clean, quiet, great bed, AC, nice altho small breakfast until 10am. Overlooked a nice garden. Would definitely stay again, even though the water heater wasn't working.

Not badly located but the rooms are terrible, dark and dingy, smell of mould and rot and of sanitation - had to turn of the ancient a/c which added to the musty smell - the staff kept cleaning and putting in air fresheners but the smell would not go away. Was like the rooms had been closed throughout the rainy... More

Great little hotel in San Juan Del Sur. Good sized room with clean bathroom and hot water. Located a stones throw from restaurants, cafes and bar. I did get a minor electric shock from the hot water but no biggie. Very nice staff but dont speak much english. Wow....and what an awesome breakfast!

I just returned from Nica. and found the HOtel colonial to be a great stay in SJDS. it is perfectly located for beach, shopping, restaurants etc. and it is very relaxing with the beautiful courtyard in the midst of busy surf town streets of san juan. rented two rooms with 4 kids and felt this was a very safe place... Comfortable place not far from beach and restaurants. On a group tour and stayed just one night but it was nice experience and my room was upstairs and quiet in a garden. Staff helpful. Breakfast was very basic.

After a terrible experience at Hotel Liri, we moved to Hotel Colonial. We stayed upstairs, where the rooms are smaller; however, we feel that it's generally a good move to avoid bugs when you're in Central America. Pros: - Central Location - Wifi - Comfortable Beds - A/C actually works - Great service (they actually fold your clothes for you,... More

El Colonial is our favourite hotel in San Juan del Sur. It's reasonably priced, has totally trustworthy and friendly staff, comfy rooms and a nice garden. They now do free cooked breakfasts too. It's close to the beach and has good secure parking. Can be a little noisy if full so we generally try and stay in the week.

The hotel is centrally located, and this is the only good bit of the hotel. The room was too small, and the bathroom was just ok. The internal garden was nothing that you can really enjoy. Breakfast was basic: egg and gallo pinto (=rice+bean).
