My room was clean, spacious, and freezing, when I checked in and it took time to warm up. The furnishings are very old. The front desk staff was pleasant but did not try to help when questioned about the need to replenish anything in the breakfast area. Nice variety for breakfast if you get there early. Housekeeping pulled the covers... More

They served some expired food in the breakfast. The stuff unhelpful, nervous, careless and couldn't see any smiling. No privacy. You can hear everything in the room next you when they talk. I couldn't say any better to describe it.

I stayed here over the weekend in a deluxe double bed room. Went to college in the area and had friends & family have rooms here before and they must've had the superior double bed rooms because I had remembered them being much nicer. We got a terrible room. I only books this place based on those rooms I saw... More

Attended a conference over the weekend at the Avalon. Very Pleased! Rooms were fresh and clean, from the time you walked in and for the entire weekend, staff was wonderful. They took care of anything I needed. Food was awesome, compliments to the chef! Will definately book again.

This hotel needs a complete gutting. The rooms are seemingly permanently filthy. I don't have seasonal allergies or dust or hay allergies, but the 2 nights I spent in this noisy, decrepit place really messed with my respiratory system. The room I was in had windows that howled in the wind, drafts, a clogged sink, an ancient tube TV, filthy... More

Stayed there for a convention. Staff was great and gave us the run of the place. Decor is a little outdated but overall it was comfortable and clean. Heating and cooling stysten needs a little work. Adjustments to the therostat had no effect. Underground parking can be tight so forget your full-size SUV. Separe wifi on each floor is confusing... More

The Avalon is situated downtown in Erie, PA. Check-in was very good. I had reservations so check-in was very quick and easy. You pay for your room when you check-in so be sure that you get the room you expected and there is no problem with the room because you have already paid for it when you walk away from... More

If this place were not in downtown Erie, we would not have stayed. This, I learned, is a former Hilton location. Almost everything is in need of some sort of cleaning, repair, upgrade... Nothing is to the point where it is a deal breaker, but the cumulative effect is somewhat hard to overcome. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking... More

The outside of the hotel, lobby, and elevators are simply frightening. The inside of the room wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, given the appearance of the facade and I wondered if that wasn't some sort of psychological trick - lower your expectations before you even enter the room. The bed was clean and comfy, and the heat worked... More

While I was at my room, I found small mouse under my bed. I spend for more than month. I saw the mouse more than 9 times at my room. I tried to catch it but I couldn't. Really, it was worst experience in my trips. To enjoy, sleep as a homeless better than AVALON.
