My wife and I came up to Erie for a weekend getaway and were not real thrilled with the quality or selection of affordable hotels in the area. I can say with confidence after staying at William Sands House I will never have to look at any other hotels in the area again. The quality and service you get for... More

We've been in Erie about every other week most of this winter for volunteering activities & were thrilled when friends recommended the William Sands House & the George Carroll Inn to us. The house is beautiful and inviting, the rooms are spacious and super clean. It's not a full served breakfast- which is fine for us, as we're usually on... More

We found this place by accident, as we were driving around Erie after bringing our daughter from out of state to look at nearby Mercyhurst University...we had not prebooked a hotel beforehand when we stumbled upon William Sands. Not only were our rooms incredibly affordable, but they were clean, quiet and we got a FREE breakfast included with the price.... More

We live in Georgia but our son is a new freshman at Mercyhurst University so we've had several trips to Erie getting him settled in. Chris, the newish owner of the newly renamed "William Sands House" was great to chat with over coffee and I discovered she also owns the George Carroll house. While this is not a traditional B... Was in town for College visits and it was in a great location with easy access to the college, stores, restaurants and amazing waterfront. Beautiful architecture and and historical charm I would highly recommend this. They have a new name now. Stayed in room #4 and it was just what we needed with private bath.

Had a runner in the Erie marathon so wanted something clean and convenient but didn't care about breakfast since we were up and out by 5:30 am both mornings we stayed. So didn't want one of those B&Bs with a fabulous multi-course breakfast that we would miss. Very clean, beautifully restored Victorian in walking distance to everything we wanted in... More

My husband and I were in Erie for a funeral and stayed one night only on short notice. This was a perfect place to stay. Calm, comfortable, beautiful. We loved room #2 with the king bed and lots of space everywhere. We didn't use the little kitchenette at the back of the second floor but it looked nicely supplied. The... More

A family emergency brought us to Erie on the spur of the moment this summer. Hotel rooms were hard to find, but Chris, the kind owner of the lovely Boothby Inn, came to our rescue. The comfortable room, the elegant building, the snacks and continental breakfast, plus Chris were all like comfort food for us at a difficult time. The... More

Compared to hotel prices in the summer, you can't beat the overall value of a B&B. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We stayed in room #3 and loved it. Upstairs where the rooms were appeared to be recently remodeled. The downstairs still has a Victorian feel. One note is that the breakfast is continental but... More
