We spent an excellent night at The Lodge at Chalk Hill. The staff were very congenial and extremely helpful. The room was spotless; the bathroom was recently completely renovated; the furniture in great condition; the beds were as comfortable as we have experienced in a motel or hotel. The small deck attached to the room (each room has one) was a very pleasant spot with a lovely view. And the grounds throughout, the trees and ornamental shrubs and flowers, are gorgeous. The owner has renovated the Lodge on a comprehensive scale and a bit more work needs to be done. But a night at the Lodge would be a very sound choice, at a very competitive rate, and ought to be an excellent choice for a safe and relaxing evening in this beautiful section of Pennsylvania. We will definitely stay here again.

Very clean which is a huge factor for this positive review. Priced reasonably; close to Ohiopyle. Restaurants nearby. Charming surroundings. Loved the deck. Scattered pavilions and fire pits are a nice touch.

Great clean motel near Ohiopyle. Its not fancy but is well run with friendly staff. Apparently new management. Great option if you are looking for a place to stay while visiting this area. 10 min drive to the craziness and high lodging prices of Ohiopyle.

Our stay at The Lodge at Chalk Hill in November 2022 was our 2nd stay at this establishment. The first stay was in 1998, and I don’t remember any issues then, but that was over 20 years ago. Upon our arrival at night in the rain, we found that the driveway needs repaving and some light poles had lights hanging off of them. There were some potholes and rough areas. The evening front desk lady was very friendly. She noted that there was no included breakfast, due to remodeling, and that they closed the office at 10:00 PM. She said that there was no way to contact them after 10:00 PM until 8:00 AM in the morning. There should be no issues. Upon attempting to enter the room, with a regular metal key, the front desk lady had to help us, as it was night and we could not see that there are 2 locks that need unlocked. We could see the deadbolt, but not the keyhole in the handle. After we got it in, we were good. That was around 9:30 PM. After 10:00 PM, we found the following problems: 1. Wifi signal was too weak for devices to connect. We could not use the Wifi. 2. The blanket on one of the full size beds was torn in different places. This was plain to see by a cleaning person, as the bed could not be made without seeing the torn areas. 3. The A/V unit was not regulating the temperature very well. Setting it to 72F was too hot, and setting it to 68F was too cold. We set it at 70, which was a bit cold, but bearable. The A/C was set in the wall to blow directly on the beds at head level. So I had to put an open umbrella in front of it, to divert the air upwards. 4. We also found that the mattresses were stiff and the pillows were flat. To alleviate these issues, and make the stay much better, I suggest the following: 1. Set up Wifi Mesh routers in each building, to extend the Wifi signal at an acceptable strength. 2. Check the beds and rooms, when cleaning them, to ensure no issues. 3. Replace or repair the A/C unit, and put a diverter on the A/C to aim the air flow upwards. 4. Change the full size beds to queen size beds for more comfort for 2 people, with a fluffier mattress and pillows. 5. Tell customers that there are 2 locks on the doors that must be unlocked for entrance. 6. Repave the driveway and fix the outdoor lights. 7. Offer a discount at the café across the road until the breakfast is restored. 8. Leave a phone number for the on-call person at night. If these can be implemented by the owners of The Lodge at Chalk Hill, the stay would be so much better, and we would gladly recommend this establishment to our friends.

Very good value for the money. Clean comfortable room and pleasant staff. Location great for visiting Frank Loyd Right designed homes. One thing, not many places to eat dinner on a Monday evening nearby.

Traveling north from Florida, we planned a stop at nearby Fallingwater as we always wanted to visit. Based on the TA reviews, we chose The Lodge at CH as it appeared to be acceptable. Besides, there are not many alternatives close by. Our visit was fine but there are definitely things you need to be aware of. . The Good: *It’s clean. *Iron and board. *Coffee maker. *Blow dryer. *Clean fridge and microwave. *Lots of active renovation ongoing. The Front elevation and roofs of all the units, including the concrete walks, have been upgraded. This includes ongoing work at the office building, which should be nice when complete. . The Annoying: *The office is at the top of the hill. As the complex is built on the side of a hill, you have to drive to your room. It’s a long hike if you need ice (I drove as I’ve had both hips replaced) or you have a problem (we had a screen door all torn up and I needed to report so they didn’t think I caused the damage – another drive). *I tried to call the office to inform them about the screen door (so I wouldn’t get charged) but they wouldn’t pick up. Had to drive up. *Small 30” TV with NO premium channels. *The parking lot has many potholes and trash thrown everywhere. You know: plastic bottles, paper. You would think they would make an effort to, at least, pick up the trash. It looked like glitter. I would have provided photos but we’re limited to 10 per review. *The sliding door screen had a large rip (Photo) and was off the track so you had to grab the bottom with two hands to open it. From Florida, we would love to open to door and enjoy the cool weather but couldn’t with the rip. We like cool weather but not bugs. . The Bad: *The sliding door screen had a large rip and it was off the track. The only way to open was to grab the lower part with two hands and pull (or it would fall off the track). I ask you: How could any employee miss this and allow the room to be rented this way? (Photo) *The “free” Wi-Fi had one bar and was so weak that it would connect for a moment and then cut off. Why bother? If this is what you “feature” just remove it as IT DOSENT WORK! *There is a large wood deck behind all the units. Nice right? Nope: They’ve done all the renovations on the front and roof of the units, which is nice, but have completely neglected the rear and the decks. There is a table and two chairs BUT there is mildew or mold everywhere, which could easily be removed with bleach or a pressure cleaner (Photos), the deck needs to be replaced in spots and it’s COVERED IN BUTTS (Photo). We even had a dental floss pick on ours (Photos). . Conclusion: The place is fine if you don’t mind walking up the hill for ice or butts, mold, and trash on the deck.

Sign on highway stating new renovation and a vacancy. We had left Falling Waters and a Snowstorm was starting. This is a very basic hotel, but was clean. Door didn't work well. View was beautiful. It needs some work, but heater worked, bathroom was clean. We had hot water and bed was comfortable. Price definitely good. No breakfast.

I stayed at this place before without a problem. I called earlier and make a reservation giving them ALL my credit card info. Upon arrival I was told there was no reservation for me and no one there took my information. I had to give everything AGAIN. SO let's talk about the room. The TV remote sis not work at all. Rhe desk clerk moved me at 1130pm to another room The heater was extremely loud. Also the TV remote did not work al all. When I was in the original room I accidentally went into the adjoining room (which rhe key opened perfectly) A husband and his wife threatened to shoot me before I could explain what happened. I left this ridiculous place at 2am and drove back to Pittsburgh. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I feel a repayment to some type is in order!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else. Apparently all the keys open all the doors. And the TV remotes are junk!
