This is a historic (1826) town home in what seems to be authentic condition with just about every modern comfort and great attention to detail. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed meeting the other guests. Also, Alan and Mary are fabulous in-keepers with a knack for making guests feel comfortable.

My daughter and I were in Carlisle to tour Dickinson and we rather hope she enrolls there so we can stay at Carlisle House again. Beautifully furnished and quiet, with an historic ambience, it was perfect for our stay. Both the college and a variety of tantalizing restaurants are within close walking distance. We enjoyed meeting the other guests at... More

I found this jewel by chance and could not have been happier if I had picked it out of a guide. The accommodations, the host, location and breakfast all great. I not only recommend the Carlisle House, I recommend the city. I will be back, what a great experience!

Wonderful place to spend a night when visiting Dickinson College since it's within walking distance. It's also great to have restaurants and stores nearby. Mary was super friendly, and helped make the stay more personable. The room was great. I hope to return someday, but the next time, it should be with a boyfriend, not my two teenagers. The only... I was in Carlisle for just two nights to drop my daughter off at CPYB. My only regret is that I didn't plan to stay longer! The Carlisle House was clean, nicely decorated and the bathroom was wonderful. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very cosy. Alan and Mary shared information on the history of Carlisle and... More

Quite objectively speaking, this is the single best B&B we've ever experienced. The rooms were outstanding; the bathrooms were perfect. Breakfast was gourmet quality. The hosts were more generous than one could possibly imagine, especially for the very reasonable cost. The building and town for that matter is very historic. We will definitely return.

I enjoyed my stay at Carlisle House very much. I was there alone for 3 nights, as I had just taken my daughter to CPYB for a 5 week ballet program. I reveled in the comfort, the hospitality and the delightful experience at Carlisle House. The breakfasts were wonderful, not only because of the tasty gourmet food, but because of... More

What more can you ask for -- a beautiful historic home with a comfy bed, a well-appointed room, within walking distance of a vibrant downtown, AND run by friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Mary and Allan were gracious -- with just the right balance of attentiveness. They recommended some fabulous restaurants for our evening in town and the breakfast was wonderful.... More

Our son just graduated from Dickinson and we were lucky enough to find the Carlisle House for our first visit five years ago. Walking distance to the campus and a number of very good restaurants - it has a perfect location. Always comfortable and lovely with a super breakfast that deserves its own rating. Over the years we stayed at... More
