I have only eaten here so this review is just for the restaurant... we stopped here at 7am for breakfast before heading up to the gorge, first walking around the building to look at the restoration and gain a sense of history. Breakfast was great, service spot on and really set us for the day!

I have had the opportunity to stay 2 times at this place. The first time was in Jan and it was so beautiful and special, I planned an entire trip around the different Mcmenamin hotels. I love the idea and philosophy behind these unique establishments. Edge field is my favorite still the the rest all are worth a stay!

Thank you for your posting. The Edgefield is a wonderful place and so very different depending on the season. Nice that you've come out in January and then again in the summer. The foliage is so different in winter and summer, it's a wonderful transformation. Hope we see you again soon. Owen Craig McMenamins Edgefield Hotel Management More

I've been coming to the Edgefield for years. It's a wonderful oasis for adults. You feel like you're in a different world when you're there. I love the history of the building, the eclectic artwork everywhere you look, the different bars located in obscure and interesting areas, the winery, the distillery. Everything is geared toward a relaxing and communal experience.... More

Bachelorette party yesterday. We started off in the wine tasting room (this was my favorite)...Here you can taste many different wines approx. $6 - $8 for a generous amount of 5 to 6 different wines My friend and I snuck off from the group and tasted some Pear Brandy and Whiskey from one of the many little bars around the... Hope you are not planning a wedding here. The staff are rude and snippy. They do not make any allowances for timing, courtesy, or bridal preparations. Trying to get the wedding guests a room? Forget about it. Need time to set up? Forget that too. On top of that, what they charge for room, you could get three rooms with... More

Hi Jen J, This is a very concering complaint and also very unique. I'm not sure which wedding your group was a part of, but of course I'd very much like to connect with you on this. We do over 250 Weddings a year and so this is very much a unique complaint. I've reached out to you privately as... More

Attended a wedding here. Do NOT choose this venue. Totally overpriced with poor service from the hotel, catering, and service staff. We found used earplugs under the pillows. The bride and groom paid far too much for this place. Have loved so many McMenamins places from the mid nineties, but this place is horrible! All complaints fell on deaf ears... More

we've been coming here for years, and always find something different. we had family from out of town again, and we began strolling around the grounds, showing them the golf course and gardens. we grabbed a 2 beers, a cocktail, and a whiskey to accompany us on our exploration. the hotel itself is restored beautifully, plus the little huts, distillery,... Thank you for your posting, it sounds like you definitely explored the Edgefield. Yes, stay the night some time, so many of our guests are local Portland area residents on staycation. It's an easy 20 minute from town get away. Cheers, Owen Craig McMenamins Hotel Management More

Lots to do and see. Pool is unfortunately warm even in summer with nowhere to sit. Rooms had no bathroom, but were very spacious. Food and drinks are great. Tons of weddings going in. A neat place to experience but next time I'd probably just spend the day there and stay somewhere else.

This is a great place to stay if you're breaking up a trip from the city or the beach and want to see the Gorge for a day. It is very hot and noisy in the summer as it is a retrofitted historical building, which is the charming reason you should stay here. It can be really fun to eat,... More

Attended a wedding on the 3rd floor, called the Attic room.........all i can say is that it was so sweltering hot up there with only a mini window air conditioner for all the 50 plus guests!!! I finally couldnt take the heat anymore, as i was feeling like i was going to have a spontaneous combustion!!! I ended up going... More

Thank you for your review. Due to the Historical Nature of our property we do have some limitations. No A/C is definitely one of them, fortunately that only affects us a couple weeks out of the year. We have talked about ceiling fans, it's a power issue for the building, but I'm sure we can add some in places. We... More
