We stopped at Cape Lookout State Park to enjoy the great views of the Pacific Ocean. It has great trails and a beautiful rushing brook. We stayed about an hour just admiring the ocean. The are areas to picnic and cabins that can be rented.

We, love, love, love this campground. We discovered it in June by accident and was only able to spend one night. But we knew we'd be back for a longer stay. After a less than ideal trip down to California we got outta there early and headed to Cape Lookout. It was the best five nights of our two week... More

We made the 5-mile, easy-to-moderate hike along the peninsula to Cape Lookout as part of our day's travels along the coast. The hike takes you along the spine of the peninsula, having several good views towards the coastlines north and south of the cape. The elevation change is minor. Several great opportunities for photographing trees, flowers, mushrooms, small wildlife. At... More

This was our third September three night camp-out here. All was going great in our favorite campsite until our third night. My wife, "Someone's in our camp getting into our stuff," she said, waking me from sleep. Me, "What?" She repeated her words and then I too heard something that sounded like our large plastic containers being rummaged through. I... More

Just got back from a Family camping trip. This place was perfect!! Camp site was just feet away from the ocean. Clean and beautiful beach to watch the day go by. Wonderful Sunset's ! The staff are helpful and friendly. Great at patrolling to make sure all campers have a great experience... as well as enough fire wood. Bathrooms and... More

Stayed in a deluxe cabin for 2 nights and wished we stayed for more! The views were stunning and great beaches for walking, sunset watching, finding sand-dollars, flying kites (although we only had wind for a short period of time). Can't get a better view for the price. Yes, you need to bring your own sleeping bags, towels, dishes -... More

We stayed two nights at this campground where we didn't see a speck of sun. The beach was great to play on (windy enough for kites). Dress warm. The showers get pretty dirty after all the campers use them (only 3). There were a few mozzies at our site but I think they might spray selectively. We did go for... More

Beach: 4.5 stars Camping spots near mosquitoes : 0 stars Rest of the campground : 3.5 stars Be extra careful where your campsite is. There are small swamps full of Mosquitos next to areas d20-d25 (near the public washrooms ) as well as around d4-5 (there may be others). Wouldn't recommend those spots unless you like dealing with constant mosquito... More

Camped here with the family in an oceanside spot. It was chilly, and the spots were very small. No privacy here at all - at least not in the ocean side spots. Washrooms were not well kept...very dirty. On a good note, rangers were friendly upon check in and there is wood for sale for campfires.

Beautiful park, great trails. There are beautiful views on the drive down, and on the road to the park you can stop and view some gorgeous inland sand dunes. If we'd had more time I would have been tempted to rent an ATV and explore them. Definitely a nice spot to visit!
