We became somewhat regulars over the summer and were always pleased with the rooms and the hospitality. The owners are great people and always made us feel welcome and made sure the room was satisfactory. I will be returning again and again!

We stayed two nights at the Depot Inn in Sumpter. The guy and lady that worked the office were super nice and helpful. The room was clean and fresh. They had a nice place to eat right next door and another across the street. They don't have a clock in the room, so I would bring one. They have blinds... More

We stayed in the inn while doing a fall-foliage photo excursion. It reminded me of 1960's motels - with modern touches. The room was spacious and very clean, complete with microwave, small 'fridge, flat-screen, and wi-fi (which is a really nice touch for being back away from it all). The operators were super-friendly and helpful. Beds comfy, bath looked like... More

Great town with lots of character including one of the few remaining Gold Dredges. Motel was clean and quiet with very friendly owners.. Only complaint is that outside door lights are left on all night which seems to be pretty common but the rooms blinds were lacking in ability to give good closure for light blockage.

We are bicycling cross country through small town USA. Our accommodations have ranged from the excellent to the not so much. This motel is all there is in a Sumpter. That being said, this is a great little motel. The positives: friendly staff, clean room, good a/c, comfortable bed (a little soft), good water pressure in shower and sink, quiet... More

Arrived after a long day on the bikes to a very friendly owner. The weather was very bad and he immediately had us put our bike under the cover in the front. The room was very clean and very well maintained. We will stay again and look forward to going back in snowmobile season.

We wanted to stay in John Day after a long day on the bikes. No rooms as firefighters were in town. Got online and booked the Depot in Sumpter. Great little mining town frozen in time. The Depot was super friendly and took pictures of our bikes to post on their facebook page. This town and hotel are definitely on... More

We went with our car club to see the fall leaves and the Sumpter steam train run. The owners of the inn went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They let us have a campfire right in the middle of the parking lot and helped us get the wood for it. What fun. The rooms were clean... More

Some friends and I went up to Sumpter for some ATV riding. They camped and I stayed here. The business is run by the owners, who live on-site. I only had contact with the wife and she was always friendly and helpful, and provided us with some trail maps. My room had 2 queen beds, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker... More

Expectations were low when we pulled into the lot as we saw it was full (no vacancy) and obviously an older location. We ended up being pleasantly surprised with a very clean, very comfortable, very quiet (surprisingly so) room for the night. Wireless Internet was fast, the shower had great pressure, and the people were friendly. What else is needed... More
