Our 25th Anniversary plans were set. A glorious week in Nantucket was planned a year in advance, but because of an unfortunate injury, all hopes of travel came to a sudden halt. Just when all seemed lost, we decided to spend our time at Black Butte Ranch. Little did we know that this decision would turn out to be one... More

The view of the Three Sister's mountain range is stunning -- a meadow lake, surrounded by horse-dotted meadow, a tree line, and then the three peaks jutting above. The pace of this place is perfect for families. It's not crowded, the development seems to put a premium on fostering tranquility. Perhaps it's a little too tranquil for some. Looking forward... We just came back from a four night five day wonderful family vacation at Black Butte Ranch. I initially booked a two room suite online (condo lodge #43). From the web, the room looked okay. In person, it was frankly horrible. It looked like we stepped into a time warp. The decor, the furnishings, the linens looked like circa 1970s.... More

Stayed at the ranch for the 4th of July, received poor customer services, late check in, had to check in three times. Staff didin't know what they were doing. Rented two condo rooms, were informed with partial view, no view, rooms were dark, smelly and filthy. WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. Worth 4th of July ever. I would recommend going... More

Our family spent Christmas week at Black Butte Ranch, a pricey resort outside of Bend, Oregon. Our problems were several beginning with a lack of amenities that cater to families. The food at The Lodge Restaurant is overpriced and pretty bad. One person heard from a resident that the Oregon Department of Health had closed them down and assigned the... More

Over the last several months my fiance and I had been looking forward to a friends wedding which would be taking place at this resort. We saved and blocked off this particular weekend with both of our employers as a great chance to use the vacation time we had earned. Our first night there went fine, we stayed in one... More

BBR is a great place to relax and play outdoors with family. We had a great trip with extended family--lots of swimming, biking, running, horseback-riding, playing sports, etc. It is a great facility for these purposes, and also has golf, soccer, disc golf, tennis and other sports available. The facility is laid out with bikes and pedestrians in mind, and... More

Gorgeous location. Generally a nice place, but somewhat worn and noisy. Think Best Western, but with (outdoor, not persons-lacking-in-hygiene) bugs. Good room set-up, but poorly remodeled. Holes in walls where pictures used to be, poor paint jobs, etc. None of that was a big deal. There was a dead beetle in the bed, dead moth on the floor of the... More

My husband and I stayed here a few years ago for our Anniversary, and we were absolutely horrified with our experience. We had heard good things about them, so we were really excited, but when we arrived, our room was totally outdated in 70's decor. I believe a lot of the units are owned, and rented out like timeshares. Unfortunatly,... More

Black Butte Ranch is the most awesome place for a family vacation in Oregon. It has all the amenities you would want from golf, swimming, tennis, fishing, biking--you name it. In May 2007 the Glaze Meadow Sports Complex will open making it one of the most modern facilities in the area. We stayed in one of the owner rental homes... More
