I visit Portland quit a bit and stay at various hotels. Recently I was in Portland and booked this hotel for a 3 night stay and I found it to be a very nice choice. Old fashion charm and best of all was it's location. Right in the heart of town with good restaurants and places to shop. The Mark... More

This place has some history but our room smelled and our only window opened into a central channel above the atrium to give the rooms some light. Great location! The staff were good, as was the breakfast and happy hour!

The Mark Spencer, an older hotel with renovated rooms, served our needs well during a three night stay in early June. Lower floor rooms were dark but quiet and spacious. Service was excellent. Price was competitive. Sound proofing was surprisingly good. Location was ideal for walking, access to the good and inexpensive public transportation system, and closeness to the entertaining... Stayed for a week last week and couldn't have had a better stay. The service was great, the staff incredibly friendly, location was close to great sites and restaurants and highways for driving. The breakfast was good but cappuccino machine in the lobby was even better! Loved it and would return without question. Beds very comfortable. Mike

The staff really made the difference in this great location downtown hotel. Spent a working weekend there and appreciate the help while I had incredible back spasms. The room was surprisingly large and had a kitchen area. Appreciate the included breakfast.

The Mark Spencer has very comfortable rooms, quiet and spacious. We'd have been even happier if the room had been ready for us at 3:30 p.m., and in fact we had to expostulate firmly even an hour later to get our room. But they certainly redeemed themselves by allowing us the next day to check out early with no penalty,... More

We are always happy to accommodate our guests with early check-out, as well. Sometimes events arise that you didn't count on. We appreciate your choosing to stay with us... More

This hotel is on a great location and the public spaces and staff are top notch. But the rooms are another matter. My room was one of those that had been renovated. It was surprisingly small. The furnishings were shockingly sparse: A bed with nightstands, a desk and chair, a small dresser, and a tv hanging from the wall. That's... More

Thank you for your candid review. I'm sorry you were disappointed in your guestroom. We try to make each room as comfortable as we can with added amenities such as 50" HD flat screen TV's, extra chairs (where appropriate) and luxurious bed linens from Ireland. We truly appreciate your comments and look for ways to implement any suggestions from our... More

Three girlfriends and I just came home from a 4 day stay at this wonderful hotel. We loved so many things about our visit here - the fabulous, delicious coffee machine that was available all day long, the warm, home baked cookies in the afternoon, the wine tasting every day complete with crackers and cheese - and all of it... The hotel was a delightful surprise. Full refrigerator, stove, and sink along with the utensils. New York Times at your day on weekdays. The streetcar passes the front of the building. Close to the famous food carts where I had most of my tasty meals.

I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. The food carts are amazing and I'm sure you found a few favorites! I've eaten a few meals there myself! I hope you were also able to join us for our complimentary wine tasting each evening. We choose a variety of local and regional Oregon and Washington wines to sample each... More

Thank you for visiting us all the way from Australia! I hope you enjoyed Portland as much as we enjoyed having you as our guest.
