Take the tram from the airport to downtown and walk to your hotel. Stumptown coffee, Powell's bookstore, Pearl District, downtown all within SHORT walking. Breakfast included(Kenny and Zukes) Jewish deli across the street. Friendly staff. This hotel is in a 100 year old building and they are refurbishing the rooms. Portland is eclectic, vibrating and friendly city. Room was clean and... More

Great location and great staff, large rooms (we had a suite with kitchen), and decent rates (which include breakfast). This was our first visit to Portland, so we wanted a good base for walking to the many downtown Portland attractions, restaurants, and famous food trucks. The Mark Spencer certainly delivered on all counts! Staff are incredibly competent and friendly. It... More

I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights - both with kitchens. The rooms were clean but dated, with windows but without an outside view. It was extremely quiet and the staff, both at the counter and on the floors were top notch. The beds were very comfortable, sheets and pillows were clean and crisp white. Bathrooms, even though not updated,... More

Portland has an excellent public transportation network- in most cases you travel for free. The Mark Spencer is within walking distance of multiple restaurants, Deschutes Brewery and Powell Books. The staff are friendly and helpful-they offer free breakfast, wine evenings, and warm cookies. They are also pet friendly for those traveling with a family pet. We stayed in a Junior... More

This is a beautiful old hotel that is very welcoming to people and their four legged friends. The rooms are comfortable and bright. It is centrally located near many fine restaurants in downtown Portland. We enjoyed the wine tasting in the evening and the recommendations from their staff for dinner. We would stay her again.

My husband and I enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Mark Spencer the first week of November. I decided to visit Portland for the first time for a 50th birthday get-away. For me it was unnerving booking a hotel in an unfamiliar city so I chose the MS based on the reviewers praising the location - and they were... More

The Mark Spencer is fantastic. The newly refurbished rooms are lovely - spacious and comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Pam suggested we changed from a suite to a room as the suites hadn't been refurbished when we stayed. Thank you Pam, our room was perfect. The wine evenings are a great way of trying out the local... Flawless hotel is exactly as described on their website. Our rooms were small but there were two of them(!) with a kitchenette that came in handy when we got an enormous lunch from one of many foodcarts nearby. Location could not be better. Walking distance to all public transportation including the max train. We were on the first floor but... More

Super nice staff and a great location. Make sure to ask for one of the recently renovated rooms. They do not disappoint. Only downside was that we had to wait 1/2 hour after check in for our room. The upside, there was a nice tea selection and coffee and cookies while we waited. They also comped us on our overnight... More

This hotel is very close to public transportation, Powells Bookstore, Whole Foods, car rental (Enterprise), and a short walk to NW 23rd as well as downtown shopping. Walk 2-3 blocks to catch the light rail to the airport (about 40 minutes) or Lloyd Center (5-8 minutes). The staff are very friendly and helpful, and their free breakfast is nice. The room... More
