This is a smaller hotel. I asked for a room on the top floor in a quiet area. I was happily surprised. My single room was quite large. The bed was very comfortable. Their continental breakfast at least has protein, hard boiled eggs, which I appreciated. They also have excellent coffee all day and water in the lobby. The rooms... More

We usually stay closer to the city centre when visiting Portland but this time chose to stay nearer to the Pearl District and Powell's Bookstore. The staff were really helpful when we made our booking and we did one of their package deals, the Paperback Writer package because it included parking (which can be pretty pricey in Portland) and a... My Mom and I stayed at the Mark Spencer for 2 nights over a very rainy weekend in December. This was a very nice boutique hotel. The price we paid for the quality of the room was excellent. Note though, that the hotel is set back from the street and is not very handicap accessible. There is no doorman service... More

A weekend with Mom - how fun for you! Happy you could join us for our evening wine reception, which is always a guest favorite. You described many of the beautiful and functional appointmets we've included in our newly renovated rooms. The last of our rooms are currently under renovation, which will be completed in the Spring of 2016. Every room... More

My wife and i stayed at the mark Spencer because it's only a few blocks from the armory theater. Numerous fantastic restaurants are within a few blocks. So the location for us was perfect. The rooms are currently being remodeled. We were both extremely impressed at how quiet the room was. The bed was so comfortable, we slept better than... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm happy you had a comfortable night's sleep! Our beds are amazing - luxurious linens with beautifully ironed sheets and duvet. We're very excited that our renovations are coming to an end, with all new rooms available to our guests. We're also happy to announce the opening of Spencer Court,... More

The only place I stay while in Portland. The rooms and the service are above anything else in the Portland area. The access to downtown and public transportation make this a great place. The rooms are always extra clean and the views from the suites are great, especially at night during the fall.

We had a great stay at this hotel. The facade, lobby and corridor areas had a very historic feel - then when we got into the room, what a surprise - very contemporary. The room was well appointed, there was a small refrigerator available. The bathroom was clean and modern - huge walk in shower. The bed was quite comfortable.... More

We had a one bedroom suite and the place was more like an apartment than a hotel room, including a full kitchen. The location is close enough to everything, and particularly close to Powell's bookstore.

Another visit to this hotel on our way south. We love the location, close to the pearl as well as Powell books and some great pubs. The bed was very comfortable and the ironed sheets very smooth. The breakfast is small but there is enough variety for everyone. The wine reception at night is nice too even if we could... More

I really want to like this place! The staff, awesome and very helpful. The breakfast was nice. The location is dead center to everything you would need. But....On our way out of our room we noticed these immaculate newly renovated rooms on our floor surrounding ours. We were stuck w/ a circa 1970's room, that was pretty dingy...carpet coming up,... I went to Portland for Halloween instead of Vegas. I'm inclined to think that was a good decision despite torrential rains. A big reason is the hotel I stayed at, The Mark Spenser. Checkin was very smooth and I had good customer service checking in a bit early. The room was very nice with the best sheets I've slept on,... More
