We stayed at the Mark Spencer Hotel after checking out of a real dive of a hotel nearby. The Mark Spencer was FANTASTIC. The most pleasant and helpful staff. The rooms are beautifully appointed and really really comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near the Pearl District and easy walking distance from just about everything. The hotel staff and the... More

The Mark Spencer is now on my short list for Portland hotels. Newly renovated rooms have boutique hotel quality, spacious and thoughtfully appointed. The renovation will be complete next year and over half the rooms are done and lovely--ask for a remodeled room. Easy parking below the hotel if reserved in advance. Easy walking distance to the Pearl District, Powells... More

This is a very clean, comfortable, updated hotel with an excellent location and helpful staff and I would love to give it 5 solid stars, but cannot for one thing . . . promised were black out drapes/window coverings and they did not exist, and because there was nothing but a thin see through shade over the window the sun... This is an older hotel that at the time of my stay was undergoing room renovations. I got lucky and got to stay in a newly renovated room. Keep that in mind when reading this. I'm sure other reviewers who may have given it lower marks got an older room. I say give them a chance as soon all the... More

We stayed for 3 days in one of the renovated rooms on the 5 th floor (501). There was building noise during the day, but we spent the time enjoying the fantastic restaurants, bars, shops and the very cool vibe of Portland. The room faced the courtyard which was good, since there is noise from the street at night. The... More

The Mark Spencer was going through renovations while I was there, but they managed to keep the work mostly invisible. It is an older hotel building, so the rooms a slightly smaller than typical new construction. The rooms are very nicely appointed and the lobby area still has a bit of the old hotel charm. The breakfast is scant, the... More

Thank you to the great staff and people at the Mark Spencer Hotel! You went above our expectations! Room clean, people friendly, like the BIG TV, and especially aporeciate that you read the registration comment that we were coming to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary... the card, bottle of wine and box of chocolates are so thoughtful and we appreciate... The hotel itself was wonderful. It's an older property, but the rooms we had, two rooms each with two queens were beautifully updated, granite, marble. They were super spacious with an attached sitting room, tv in bedroom and tv in sitting room. Also came with a galley style kitchen with anything you would need to stay for awhile. The bathroom... We had a friend join us for our stay in portland and I called the hotel to arrange a roll-out bed - which was as easy as you would expect. On check in, we were advised that instead of a roll-out, we had been upgraded to a twin-queen suite with sofa-bed in the living area. The room was on the... More

The hotel was in the process of being completely renovated. We had one of the guest rooms (bedroom and living room) that had been completed. It was very nice with windows that actually open. The hotel provided cookies in the afternoon and wine and cheese between 5 and 6 pm in addition to a continental breakfast. The hotel is close... More
