Arrived early a day later than anticipated due to weather and airline issues. Had to cancel first night's stay and the desk was very understanding. When I arrived on what should have been day 2, I was very early, yet the desk went out of its way to accommodate me. Gave me a suite than a standard room. Clean and... More

Pros: Location (walk to much you're likely to want to see or do or eat or drink); friendly and helpful staff; bedroom windows that open; fairly comprehensive continental breakfast and other snacks and goodies later in the day. Not really cons, just "be awares": old hotel characteristics such as small rooms, slow elevators, thinnish walls.

We stayed here for 3 nights and though it was not the cheapest hotel, its location and quality of accommodation made it worth the money. The hotel is centrally located and we found it very convenient for bars, restaurants and city attractions e.g. the Pioneer Courthouse and Portland Art Museum. We received a warm welcome from Mike who was on... More

We arrived 1hr early for our check-in, as our plans to tour The Pearl District after driving from Seattle were cancelled b/c of the overly long drive through a torrential rain storm, and arriving to torrential rain! Our hope was simply to be able to check-in, change and then walk under covered awnings here & there. Sitting outside in the... More

Love the Mark Spencer Hotel in Portland, Oregon! I had a conference 2 blocks away and rates here are much better. My room is great. Glad to have a frig & stove for restaurant left-overs. Great location. Friendly general manager! Chatting at the free happy hour in lobby and then she showed me 2 rooms they are remodeling. Exposed brick,... More

My husband and I haven't been to Portland and had heard wonderful things about it and thought that we would give it a try. Loved the city, from the food trucks to the Micro Breweries everywhere. Our hotel was in a perfect location for walking around the city. The room was quite small and on the older side. But was clean and the desk... I spent this past Saturday night at the Mark Spencer Hotel in Portland. We had two rooms for one night, both were newly renovated rooms with single king sized beds. One of the two rooms had a full kitchen, complete with fridge, microwave, toaster, two burner stove-top, and coffee maker. The renovations are just beautiful - got me thinking about... More

My husband and I took a road trip from SF to Portland with our chihuahua terrier. I found this hotel on Booking.com and cross referenced it with Trip Advisor. It was a great choice. Not knowing anything about Portland, we were happy to be co centrally located - walking distance to almost everything. The staff was very friendly, and they... More

The staff members were great- helpful, courteous. The place was clean, newly remodeled. The location between downtown and the Pearl District is fabulous. A quick breakfast is available and hits the spot. The coffee/ hot chocolate/ tea machine is available around the clock and is a nice feature. I called the hotel directly for my reservation and received a better... More

We stayed at the Mark Spencer last weekend and were delighted. Yes, it's a little worn, but it's clean and charming. We don't like chain hotels, preferring those with character and personality. The room was wonderful, the service excellent. We slept well and enjoyed a terrific breakfast around the corner at Cheryl's. Then, we walked a short block to Powell's... More
