Central location, close to everything is the USP of this hotel. Rooms are decent, nothing fancy but decent. A room with a kitchenette is available on request. The breakfast buffet area is cramped, and serves a basic continental breakfast. The staff is very friendly at the front desk, and ready to patiently answer all your touristy queries. We were there... I stayed for two nights on a travel zoo promo. The Mark Spencer has always been a good value in Portland-great location, nice rooms and nice staff. At reservation I asked for a peaceful room and got just that. I went down to breakfast with the NYT-both complimentary, was gone for 30" and my room was completely serviced by the... More

I hesitate to write anything bad about this hotel because it truly is a wonderful place. But we did have an issue on our recent stay. My daughter and I have been traveling for a week. When we arrived in Portland my daughter was not feeling well. We decided to spend a bit more money and stay in a nice... More

To preface: the hospitality industry is a tough one, with many people employed at barely living wages who do their best to provide good, friendly service. Many depend on the jobs these businesses offer. So I am very careful to post a review that is less than flattering. As a student of organizational culture, it is unconsciousness, and blindspots, not... More

We spent 1 night at the hotel and were very pleased...will definitely return! Good size room, super comfy bed, clean bathroom, nice and helpful staff, good price and half price parking in secured garage when driving a hybrid! Extra nice features: complimentary wine in afternoon, tea and cookies too. Good breakfast with nice fresh fruit! In the Pearl district and... More

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip with my husband and two young daughters. We stayed in a one bedroom king suite, and it was spacious and clean. I was surprised to discover that there was a kitchen in my unit! This turned out to be very convenient with storing leftovers and keeping juice in the room... More

We chose to stay here because it is in such a great location. The parking rates were the best I had seen for downtown (20/ night) but the garage is very tight. The wine tasting and complimentary breakfast is another nice touch, but not extensive in variety. We were instantly upgraded, always a good thing! Rooms must be an old... More

The Mark Spencer has been my firm favourite when travelling to Portland over the last couple of years. I usually travel for work, and what is nice about it is that it has its own very particular character - a far cry from some of the standard chain style hotel rooms where one sometimes needs to check on the hotel... We stayed at the Mark Spencer during a recent visit to Portland. The hotel is located in the heart of the downtown district near restaurants, Powell's Books, and museums. The streetcar runs right past the front of the hotel and the TriMet train is only a few blocks away. We did not rent a vehicle and took the train from... More

During a recent trip, I had a layover in Portland and found the Mark Spencer in my search for hotels. What a delight. It's everything I could possibly want in a hotel and then some. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The room was splendid (I was upgraded to an exquisite room), with a kitchenette and the most comfortable... More
