took a cab from the train station to the hotel - 10 bucks or so -- checked in early - room not ready - but they were good about storing our bags - lovely place - they have a coffee/latte machine in the lobby that runs 24/7 - the breakfast is nothing overly special -- pretty much all cold continental... Room was positively not worth the price. Was more like a motel room than a high class hotel. For the price much better to stay at a Hyatt, Marriott, etc. Not the best area in Portland. Nothing was really high class. Wine and cheese was a joke, have had more wine at a tasting. very disappointed in this hotel.

The common areas and hallways that we saw were very stylish and interesting. Some bedrooms have already been renovated, as we could see from a door left open by the cleaning staff. Unfortunately, ours had yet to have undergone renovation. It was clean and appeared freshly painted, but the range and sink in the kitchenette, while funky and retro, dated... More

Our "room" at mark spencer hotel included beside the bedroom (with tv) and the bathroom a living room (with tv and couch), a kitchenette (with fridge) and a walk-incupboard. Everything was clean and elegant designed. Breakfast was good and the receptionist was friendly. The location is very central.

Have been staying at the Mark Spencer for a number of years when visiting friends in Portland. You cannot beat the location adjacent to the Pearl District and downtown. Rooms are alright in size and the morning breakfast is fine unless you are looking for fine dining. Just across the street is a fantastic deli that has a huge local... More

We liked the Mark Spencer and would stay there again. We very much appreciated the fact that the hotel accommodated our request for an early check-in, since we were only spending one night at the Mark Spencer. Additionally, this hotel upgraded our room to an Executive King Suite, which provided more space for 3 adults. We did not have the... More

After nothing but problems with the Hotel Vintage Plaza having overbooked and making no effort at all to find alternate accommodations we spent almost the entire night trying to find a place to sleep... eventually we found Krit (the superhero working at the Mark Spencer) who went above and beyond in attempt to salvage our hotel nightmare, which exactly what... Not knowing anything about Portland.....we feel we hit the "mark" staying at the Mark Spencer. Located on the west side of the river....an easy walk over to China Town, the Pearl District, the downtown district, as well as as u hill walk over to the Washington Park area where you can find the Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, the zoo. The... More

The Pearl District gets better every year! There are more new restaurants and shopping. We also got room upgrades so our rooms have small living rooms and some extra amenities. We like the extras like the coffee machine in the lobby and the friendly staff. The location is the best of all--it is within site of Powell's and on the... More

We selected the Mark Spencer for our 4th of July weekend getaway because it was close to Powell's Bookstore. Since there was three of us (parents + 15 y/o son) I selected the Executive Suite with a king size bed and separate living room/couch bed. While photos on their site are impressive, the size of the room and property are... More
