Great location, value and quirkiness make up for being overrun with hipsters. The hotel itself is a refurbished old hotel. Note refurbished not renovated. Much of the original interiors are intact, complete with original windows (and beanbag draft stoppers!) and creaking staircases. They've simply given each room its own unique artistic treatment and spruced up some of the plumbing and... more

If you have trouble getting up from a bed that's almost on the floor, this hotel is not for you. The foam mattress in an alcove, on a platform a few inches high, was too soft and very hard to get in and out of. The shower in a claw foot tub had no grab bar and no anti-slip mat... more

Clean hotel. Comfortable rooms, beds. Hipster staff. Really super duper good coffee and restaurant in hotel. I don't want to leave Portland. It's too easy to eat good and relax. Tip: 3 good restaurants within 1 block, Clyde Common(american/euro), Jakes(seafood), and Kenny & Zukes(delicatessen). more

We Stayed here for several days in August on a driving tour of Oregon. The hotel is wonderful, the rooms are unique and comfortable with a local flair; this place is fun and interesting, a beautiful, old refurbished building, modern, cool, hip, a bit retro and some really cool arty décor. Reasonably priced, good value. The service is excellent, all... more

I've stayed at the Ace before, but this time was my Bachelor Party. They set us up right with the Suite and two of the "bunk-bed" rooms. Who even knew they had bunk-bed rooms? What a great idea for a bunch of guys. No one had to share a bed, and we kept costs down. Now to the suite -... more

The service is excellent, all staff were very helpful, sociable, and knowledgeable. The hotel is also in an excellent location, with a great restaurant, coffee shop. and breakfast place / deli in the same building.... more

Amazing ambience in this retro hotel, we enjoyed hanging out on the mezzanine 'office' and the comfy sofa area in the lobby- try the a black and white photo booth. Secret gigs happen regularly. the room was compact but very comfy with free quality shampoo etc and the most comfortable gowns in the world. Bathrooms, extremely clean - hotel was... more

Whether your in town for business, pleasure, or both it is just perfect, different. It is at the same time both new and old, including an excellent coffee shop in the lobby and a claw-foot tub in your room. A great value as it is typically 20-40 dollars cheaper than the competing hotels in the Pearl District. You definitely know... more
