We got a room here on a Sunday based on price and proximity to OHSU. It was an older motel, but clean, quiet and comfortable bed. The pool and bar where a nice bonus. Free breakfast was good. Definitely stay here again if we are in that area of Portland again

This hotel is more than disappointing. When checking in the line was very long and only one person was working the front desk. We were told all the rooms in the hotel were booked, seems they should have expected to need more than one customer service person. Our bathroom had hair from the previous person(s) in the tub. The shower... More

We chose this place because most Portland Hotels are very expensive at this time. We needed internet and a breakfast. Breakfast was good-scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, sausage and bacon and the usual cereals. Good coffee too. Our room. in the B wing, room included an old T.V. that worked poorly, stained rugs, O.K. but old furniture, and a sink that... More

Portland is really a city that works, and the hotel is perfectly connected by public transport. They offer also a shuttle for the airport for $14 ($24 return). The hotel is a typical American hotel, beautiful long time ago and never renovated. Thinks that there is no wi-fi in the rooms (just the cable). Breakfast is a misery, even if... More

It was the 4th of July celebration and almost all hotels were booked. Luckily University Place had one room left. Upon entering the room I noticed a clean smell, checked shower and bathroom, they were nice and very clean. New bathroom tile floor. Room was newly carpeted(but no smell of carpet glue). The bed was very comfortable. There was a... More

This hotel really disappointed me, particularly given how much I paid for it. The biggest failure was that there was no wifi in the room. The advertisement for the hotel said every room had "internet" but that turned out to mean hardwired internet running out of the wall which is ridiculous because my MacBook Air can't even connect to that.... Here's the short primer of what you need to know about this hotel from an ex-employee. High-speed internet only implies wi-fi but does not guarantee it. That luxury is reserved for the "comfort" rooms, which used to be called the deluxe rooms. The "economy" rooms are what you're getting when you use the internet to save some money, which used... The hotel was a great value especially for someone who is not planning on spending much time in a hotel yet still wants a "more than comfortable" place to stay. Full breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. The staff was professional and helpful. Location is in a quiet area, a couple of blocks away from transit, and a short drive... More

University place is an okay place. The plus is it has a continental breakfast, and it is near a couple light rail station in Portland. It is within walking distance to the Portland Art Museum, and the Oregon Historical Archives. It is near Portland State University. The negative is that their wi-fi in the rooms are non existent. It is a... More

The hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of the 4-day Waterfront Bluesfest, the reason for my visit. Considering the generally high prices of hotels & motels in downtown Portland (no doubt jacked up for the festival, but generally high year round), the rate I got through Hotels.com was reasonable. The hotel did add an extra $15 per day to... More
