Everything was fairly good at this hotel. All in all, a little bit high for the level of quality of the place. Pro: - Free continental breakfast had real eggs and sausage and bacon and a good selection of food. - Staff friendly and helpful - close to food and public transportation - Had good accommodations for our daughter with... Overall not a bad place for the price. The facilities are somewhat dated, but staff was very friendly and courteous. Very close to PSU and OHSU. Breakfast buffet had assortment of fruits, juices, meats, and pastries.

Had just moved to Portland and needed a place to crash for the night. Looked for a cheap "dingy" motel so that we would not linger for days as we looked for an apartment. Well, it worked. We stayed 1 night and couldn't wait to get out and start apartment hunting ASAP. The rooms we're dated, carpet and bed spreads... More

I don't know what all the bad reviewers are talking about. This hotel was fantastic! My wife and I stayed in the standard King bed room. The room was clean and very well appointed, large, and all appliances and AC in good work condition. The front desk was very friendly. Also, the hotel is walking distance from everything downtown Portland.... More

It's not fancy or convenient but a decent hotel. The rate is reasonable, so no complain. A room is good and clean enough, and they serve free hot breakfast. But two thing which I'm not comfortable with are unstable Wi-Fi and not so friendly staff members. Since this hotel is owned by PSU, are they students? If so, they should... More

At the time of writing (January '15) the lightrail stop in front of the hotel was not open yet, but it looked like it will open soon which will make it infinitely easy to get from the airport to the hotel for $2.50. Right now it is about a 10-15 min walk to downtown with the lightrail you'll have another... More

I had an exam in Portland so I got one of the rooms in this hotel. There were better rooms but for the price and location that I wanted this was the perfect match. The room was okay with a good shower. It was also important to me that breakfast was included on the price and I enjoyed it. I... More

Pros: Good location on the southend of downtown. Walking distance to street foods, shops. 12 noon check out instead of 11am. No tip necessary since it's owned by the state as shown on their brochure in room. Con: No mini fridge to keep drinks cool. Long walk to ice machine.

A friend visiting Oregon for the first time and I stayed at the University Place Hotel this past weekend. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Room comes with an ethernet cable, not wi-fi. Special shout-out needs to go to housekeeping. We slept in and left for a couple of hours on Saturday; during the window we were out our room... More

We stayed here the night before an appointment at OHSU and for the price I paid and the images on their website I was expecting something much different. The hotel was just and average motel. Not the cleanest and the price for parking was outrageous. The restaurant and lounge area was not the nicest but the service was good If... More
