Great hotel. Comfortable rooms done up in classy clean lines. Friendly staff and very helpful. Starbucks in the hotel was an added attraction. Walking distance from powell's, the pearl district and so many other attractions

This hotel is beautiful, clean, has super friendly staff, and so fun and eclectic. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are very spacious. My room had a tub and separate shower which was cool. The connected Starbucks was very helpful for an early morning, and the valet was ready with my car before the time I requested. I... More

It was a pleasure to visit the brand new Sentinel Hotel in a magnificent and gorgeously preserved old building. The reception desk is made of bookshelves with many enticing volumes (from nearby Powell's, I presume) that can be checked out to take to your room. I liked the 60's photographs on the walls, with QR codes for those who don't... More

Maybe I'm just not used to luxury hotels, but the staff went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. The hotel was elegant, but not stuffy, the staff was super friendly, and the whole vibe was upscale relaxed. Would definitely recommend this hotel

We stayed two nights at the Sentinel (formerly the Governor) Hotel. Well located. Large rooms in a refurbished historical building. Mattress was very comfortable, and I appreciated being able to open the window!! Not something offered in most modern hotels. Very friendly and efficient service.

Formerly The Governor Hotel, the Sentinel is conveniently located in downtown Portland. Inside this beautifully historic property, the decor is modern with a nod to Portland and comfort--think wide planked wood floors, library feel, comfortable seating. Sleeping rooms are generously sized and adorned with a bright green door reminiscent of Oregon's evergreen trees. Beds are comfortable and well dressed with... More

We stayed at the Governor (now re-named Sentinel) in October 2013. We were going to a party in downtown Portland and wanted to stay 2 nights near our party site. We stay in downtown Portland occasionally and have a couple of favorites. However, the Governor was closer to our party so we stayed there and are so glad we did.... More

So happy to hear that Sentinel is now your new favorite hotel when visiting downtown Portland. You made the right choice with the City Terrace room. There simply isn't another hotel in Portland with these views or balconies. Imagine what it will be like this summer? Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review. We appreciate... Just had a long weekend in Portland with my wife and 7 month old. Found a great deal on priceline for the governor hotel. It is in a great location, close to powell's, kiddy corner to all the food trucks, and an easy walk to most downtown locations. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We upgraded to a suite... Classy vintage hotel. Nice well appointed rooms. Get one of the extra pillows, they're great! Heating system worked flawlessly. Bed was very comfortable. Right on the streetcar line which takes you through the heart of the Pearl District. Happy hour is a good bargain at Jakes and a Starbucks is right off the lobby. Free WiFi in room.
