At the end of July 2008, I called and reserved one night at this motel using my Visa card. Within minutes of making the reservation, I commented to a friend that I thought it strange that this motel did not take American Express. He warned me: That's the kind of place you don't want to stay. So I immediately called... more

The rooms are fair and clean, but they don't always allow phone calls to go through. No direct room calls, they all have to go thru the front office, and thats a problem. They have many rules, they don't tell you when you first check in. I will keep you posted. more

I stayed in the Palms Motor Motel on Interstate Avenue on October 11th thru 14th, 2007. My room was excellent. Close to everything. The managers and staff were friendly. When I come to Portland next year for the Women of Faith Conference I will stay there again. more

The Palms Hotel is not quite a dump, but it is either on its way there or coming slowly back from something worse. We had a convention in town and wanted to be reasonably close to the Rose Center, but virtually all hotels nearer were full. Specifics: -- They lost our reservation. I called two days beforehand to confirm. The... more

We booked ahead of time for $58 a night plus tax. We arrived, and they had forgotten our reservation, even though we confirmed twice with a credit card. They had a vacancy, so no problem. The rooms are somewhat clean, and it is close to the Maxx. However, on the second night, the police had to be called three times... more

Last Spring, we went to Portland for a club meeting. The Palms was one of 3 locations "recommended". When we arrived, we couldn't believe the place was actually in business. There were boarded up windows and doors directly opposite the office. The parking lot had a collection of broken toilets and sinks. When we got to the room (tired) we... more

We stayed in this motel last weekend, but we would not stay there again. We were in town for a family reunion and a relative booked rooms for us out of town guests. I don't know the exact price (because we didn't pay), but apparently it is quite inexpensive. It wasn't a TERRIBLE place. It wasn't the worst place we've... more

We checked out this place after reading Gayot's review, and it seemed fine once we were there, so we booked it. We ended up staying 4 nights. The cons: The 2-beds room has an odd layout so that there is a narrow passway to get to the bathroom, only about 2 feet of space in between one bed and the... more
