Just returned from a business trip to Portland, and spent 3 nights at the Paramount Hotel. Overall I would say the hotel is average---nothing bad, but nothing to really distinguish itself from the other hotels in the area. The most important issue right now that the hotel has no control over is the huge construction site that is directly across... more

I've stayed at several downtown properties in Portland and very was disappointed in the Paramount. The Executive room was depressingly minimal. The bed was extremely hard and low to the floor. The nice design appointments were just missing making the room feel banal and stark. Bedside lamps were plugged into outlets several feet away from the nightstand so the cords... more

Just spent a night at the Paramount while checking out Reed College. Beautiful hotel, great location, excellent service. We had a corner room which was quite large, and had two windows with nice views of downtown! Very peaceful and quiet too. Bed was extremely comfortable - slept soundly which I do not usually do at hotels. Front desk staff called... more

This was my second stay at The Paramount and I think it has improved since my last stay in 2007. I booked my room directly with the hotel and the agent was very accommodating. I was able to check in early before 1 p.m. and the front desk delivered bath robes upon our request. The location is excellent just a... more

I stayed here for work and initially requested a king non-smoking. The first mistake was booking me in a room with 2 queen beds. The hotel wasn't exactly busy, so what gives? They apologize, then book me into a King room...................handicapped. So I suggested to the girl at the desk "You should let your customers know up front what they... more

We came to Portland do so holiday shopping. I agree with the past review that the hotel is in the perfect location. We could walk to Nordstrom, Columbia Sportwear and Pioneer Place...the mall with everything. We dined in the Pearl District at Henry's Tavern, great for young crowd and very good food. We always do a trip each holiday season... more

Tiffany, Nordstrom, Saks, Macy's, Columbia... It's all within easy - and safe - walking distance. Some of my fellow reviewers seem to have needs that (in my humble opinion) are a bit, um... rarefied. But if you're like me and neither know nor care what a thread count is, are thrilled to get all those channels you're too cheap to... more

I booked this hotel through Priceline and it was a good value. I would not describe the furnishings in this hotel as 4 star class. I've seen Best Westerns that are about the same. The bathroom had some mold along the floor and paint was chipped. But the room was pretty roomy and beds were comfortable. The valet the next... more

In November 2007 my husband and I travelled to Portland from Alaska for surgery. While staying in Portland we were moved from the Portland Inn to the Paramount Hotel. We were amazed at how lovely and accomodating the hotel staff were. They went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure my husband and myself were as comfortable as... more

We dicovered a $250.00 "smoking fee" had been charged upon check out. However, I reserved a smoking room with two queen beds, A MONTH IN ADVANCE. I was given a non-smoking, king room. They did agree to provide a roll away bed at no charge. When I asked to speak to the person that assessed the fee the front desk... more
