This hotel was very nice and I would recommend it-- but probably only at the highly discounted rate we paid on a bidding website. The lobby is gorgeous and classic. We booked the Benson through Priceline and got a screaming deal. We were not disappointed. This is truely a 4Star hotel. Service from the doorman, front desk and concierge was top notch. The rooms, while small (afterall it is an old building), were tastefully decorated, clean and had everything we needed. The rooms have tempur-pedic mattresses which are very comfortable.... more

We were able to get a great rate through Priceline. The immediate repsonse upon entering the lobby of this stately and historic hotel is that it is impressive and well-cared for. Just checked out yesterday (13th) after a three night stay....couldn't have asked for more. The staff are all highly accomodating and many have worked there for decades. I stayed here in the 80's....it is not like I remember....maybe in need of an upgrade.....but the staff make up for the cosmetics... in terms of cleanliness, attention to detail, and professionalism. more
