As many others have suggested, this was one of the most interesting places I have ever stayed. It was also one of the most entertaining. Perhaps I'm not hard to please - a free movie with my stay? You made my night guys! It was a great way to unwind after the drive from Seattle. I also spent about 30... More

We were planning a two night stay in Portland and had no idea where to stay. We found The Kennedy School on TA and so glad we did. This was one of the most interesting places I've ever stayed and would definitely go back. The hotel was clean and service was friendly. We enjoyed the salt water soaking tub which... More

My husband and I stayed at Kennedy School for a friend's wedding. We had eaten at other McMenamins restaurants, but had never stayed at one of their hotels. Upon arriving, we had the pleasure of being greeted by a friendly and welcoming parking attendant who helped us find the exclusive guest parking and took the time to compliment our attire.... More

Stayed here for 4 days during a business gathering and training. The library was outstanding as a small conference room, with stuffed sofas and chairs, very cozy. The place is amazingly artistic and fun.Loved the art work, loved the huge windows. The soaking pool was lovely although I didn't personally venture in. About the guest rooms: they are large and... Quick night stay at the Kennedy School after a long flight. Rooms were very cool, built in a historic school. Bed was comfy and the bathroom suitable. My room didn't have a tub, for those folks who like one. No TV in the room, which didn't bother me as I spent my evening down in the pub. The food was... More

The hotel is housed in an old elementary school that has been redone to include restaurant, various bars, soaking pool, movie theater, meeting rooms, and hotel rooms. Guests of the hotel are given free access to any of the movie showings and free access to the salt water soaking pool. To obtain ice or hot water the guests need to... More

Character. A perfect word to describe the 1915 Portland schoolhouse transformed through the unique eyes of the McMenamin brothers into a vintage feast for quirky senses. Character simply drips down the walls of the Kennedy School. A fascinating hotel featuring classroom-style accommodations, a restaurant, brewery, living room theater, soaking pool, meeting rooms, and pubs of various sizes. Every nook of... More

My husband and I have stayed at several of the McMenamins properties. We enjoy relaxing with a few adult beverages, eating some good food, and kicking back in the soaking pool. This a family friendly place and not what you normally would expect at a McMenamins Property. The hallways were packed with families with wee ones running up and down... More

I saw this hotel featured in readymade magazine several years back and thought , "I HAVE to go there someday" so we did! It did not disappoint. If you like quirky, cozy, and unique, this is your place. We stayed in the Counting Room and it still had the original chalkboard. The soaking pool is outside and it is saltwater,... More

Have stayed here in the past but recently stayed again on 1/28/12. We were in the "Art Room". We showed up and were nicely greeted by the front desk, given our keys, and directed to where we would be staying. We unloaded our stuff and being a Saturday night all of the bars were open for business. We grabbed a... More
