My husband and I decided to vacation in our former home town of Portland, Oregon. As huge McMenamin's fans we were a bit apprehensive about returning to a McMenamin's with children but those apprehensions quickly washed away. We found the Kennedy School to be a very family-friendly place to stay. We paid a little more for a larger room in... More

We were really intrigued that this school was converted to a hotel. Our room was cool, and each one comes with it's own black board. We left our own message. The staff are great. We found that the hotel had the best food that we could find. It was in a great location from local wineries, and within walking distance... More

This was such a neat experience. The room was comfy and private. The ceilings were high. The decor is fascinating. The food in the courtyard was delicious and they brew their beer in house. Our only regret is that we didn't book far enough in advance so we could only stay one night. I think there was a lot left... More

I stayed here for 7 nights for my first trip to Portland. Man, this place is FUN!!! Location: This hotel is located in the NE outskirts of Portland. It is about a 30 minute bus trip (with one transfer) from downtown, but their transit system is great and they have a really great smart phone app which makes getting around... More

Really enjoyed our two nights here - great room, decent food and nice beer - good value and a refreshing change from standard stuffy hotels. It's aiming at a clientele in their twenties and thirties, but wasn't rowdy at all. Ask for a quiet room if that's what you want. Taxi to downtown cost $23.

We had heard many good things from friends about Kennedy School so we decided to stay for a couple nights. When we entered the building, there was a line of parents with toddlers and babies waiting to use the pool. Evidently, the pool is open to the locals for a modest fee. I don't know what was worse, the smell... More

Hi AlpineFish- Thank for sharing your experience with us. The soaking pool is open to the public but as a courtesy to our guests we have set aside guest only hours in the morning and evening. Hopefully if you visit us again you can take advantage of these time frames. Our rooms are television free, but we do offer complimentary... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was like entering a self-contained community with lots of opportunity for exploration and fun. The kids loved the chalk boards in our room that was an ex-classroom, the extremely comfy movie theater and the (warm) soaking pool. Unfortunately, having the kids meant we couldn't use any of the quirky and fun bars on... More

I love all the history in this hotel. From the wooden hallways to the chalkboard in our ABC guest room To The great pictures and re-use of the school spaces as restaurants and bars. Loved the Boiler room bar. Bed was comfortable and the room had good space (so cute coat closet from school days)! Pay attention to private versus... More

Hi Kerry F- The ABC room is one of my favorite rooms! Spacious and the cloak closet is great. One of my favorite things about our company is that we preserve the history and incorporate it into our budiling. It sounds like you and your family had a wonderful time and this lets us know we did our job right.... More

I really enjoyed my stay at this place, I roamed the halls with my beers & watched a movie in the theater. The soaking pool was excellent . Didn't leave campus until checkout time :) one of the more interesting places I've stayed in a while.

We were only able to book one night at the Kennedy School and I wish we could have stayed more nights. The hotel is in an old school building and is richly decorated with folk art, photographs and history of the school. I loved walking around a looking at all the art. We stayed here the first day of our... More
