The rooms are far more comfortable than I had expected. We had spent a few nights on the coast and were looking forward to some character in Portland. Honestly, I thought the room would be tiny and noisy but I was pleasantly surprised. High ceilings, beautiful big windows, charming furniture and nice beds. The service was pleasant and professional, and... More

Spent 4 nights in the old wing, a converted school room. Bed comfortable, very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of off street parking, and several bars and a large restaurant in the hotel compensate for a location in a mostly residential area. There is a lovely courtyard for dining in good weather. Bus lines outside make public transportation a... More

CHECK IN/CHECK OUT/PARKING The check-in process was neither great nor bad; the person checking us in kept answering calls from people calling about availability or hours for the soaking pool so it was a bit fragmented. It seems like others at the front desk not helping guests check in should answer the phones. The parking is free but theres the... More

Been here numerous times, but date night this evening was a lot of fun. Spent some time exploring and made a decision that we are going to stay the night at some point so we can explore the entire property and all of the bars that are in this place. Had drinks in the Boiler Room and enjoyed the atmosphere.... More

From the airport, stepped outside and straight to the taxi queue and was chauffeured for $25 to the school. Check in starts at 4, but you can leave your bags at the front desk and start exploring. The school has so much to offer you can get away not leaving, but if it's a sunny day, I recommend going to... More

I stayed here for a business trip and it was very refreshing from the regular Hiltons, Doubletrees, etc. Rooms are sort of themed. My room was the Old MacDonald king room and very spacious. Complete with chalk board, cloak room, and an abundance of books to read. No tv, but who cares when there's books! You also get a mason... More

What a fun hotel to stay at! Being an ex-elementary school teacher, this was a really great experience. They have left a lot of the look and feel of the school, so you really know you are in an elementary school. But no school I ever taught at had a funky restaurants or bars! Besides the clean, large and comfortable... More

If you are coming to Portland and want an experience, stay at the Kennedy School. This property is an experience with multiple bars, a movie theater, and great food. The surroundings have maintained the look and feel of the school, and the artwork and attention to detail is amazing. The food is excellent as is the beer and liquor. McMenamins... More

Loved staying here. Made the rounds to get our passport stamps but ended up back in the Boiler Room before heading to a late movie. Very comfy viewing experience with beer and snacks from the happy hour menu. We didn't make it to the soaking pool, but it looked pretty nice. We stayed in a king room and it was... More

I really like Kennedy School as a luxury hotel in Portland. It compares favorably to all of the other McMenamins hotels, in terms of convenient location and amenities. However, I think Kennedy School lacks some of the character of the other McMenamins properties. Additionally, I wouldn't say this place is a great value for your money. I definitely recommend Kennedy... More
