Gosh I love the Hostel concept, and the HI's in particular as they usually enforce *very strictly* a bedding policy which requires hostellers not to use their own bedding/bags and instead utilize linens provided in order to keep the possibility of bedbug infestation to a minimum. Alas, during my stay in my room, several individuals not only slept in their... More

Hello, Thanks for taking the time to make a review of the hostel. We appreciate your perspective regarding your stay and hope you enjoyed your time here. Kind of surprised with the observation of the the sheets policy not being enforced ? Every single guest is givien a set of sheets and bedding. Whenever staff has noticed a sleeping bags,... More

This place is so cozy and cute. The staff was great. The beds were comfortable. The snoring was minimal. But the atmosphere was the best! A common space area was overflowing with board games (and I was sorry to see we missed game nights on Mondays); the decor was colorful, clean and inviting; and all their sustainable design implications were... Stayed here 2 times in the past and always had good experiences with the staff. But this time... needs new management or ownership or something. Only 2 of the staff made me feel welcome. The rest were rather cold, short, friendlyless, and I constantly had the feeling that the guests were an annoyance to them, including the manager. Cleaning is... More

Sorry to hear that your interaction with staff wasn't the best. We really pride ourselves on providing good customer service and making people from around the world feel welcomed. With a smaller hostel, it is a more intimate experience with staff, so we work really hard to accommodate our guests' needs and concerns. I've been a manager here for almost... More

I have nothing but good memories from this hostel. My partner, two friends and I filled up the family room. The cost per person was low, and the hostel was acceptable. The walls are all painted with different colours (to use up left over paint), and the hostel has an amazing committment to sustainability. I imagine this place gets noisy... More

I stayed earlier this month...first in the upstairs private room, then moved to the female dorms due to a busy weekend at the hostel. I loved the private room at the top of the stairs. It was very large, bright, cheery and clean. The bathrooms were right across the hall. It was easy to sleep. The days were very hot... More

I unfortunately did not get to fully experience this hostel since I was only briefly in town to attend a wedding but I appreciated its (relative) proximity to the airport and to Whole Foods and Safeway. Since I knew that I'd be staying late at the wedding (I didn't get to bed until after 3am), I checked in mid-morning before... More

Spend a couple of nights in the men's dorm which could use some upgrades. No problems but nothing all that great. Reminded me of the early 1970's and it looked like nothing has been updated since then. The eco-friendly aspects seem a bit dated and not current technology. Basically, an old house that has been changed into a hostel with... More

This is a very comfortable, homey place. It is in an old house that is charming and has great character. The kitchen is very well stocked and there is a "free" shelf in the fridge and the pantry of items that have been left behind. So not only do they recycle the water and trash, also the food left behind.... More

This hostel was a wonderful surprise. I booked it because I needed a place to stay for a conference, as I've stayed at many hostels (over 30) around the world, and find them to be good value for money, and there are often interesting microcommunities. This one is definitely in my top 5 favourites. Pluses: friendly, helpful staff; easy transit... More
