This is an exceptional hotel for the price (we booked for around $120/night)! It is directly beside the beach, has a pool, and included a little coffee and muffins for breakfast. I believe all rooms have an Ocean View as well. We were on the ground floor and still had a pretty decent ocean view, it was really nice. The... More

This is my favorite of the 'regular' motel/hotels along the beach on the central Oregon coast (Florence to Depoe Bay). Newport is a fun town with lots of attractions and good food for most types of travelers and the Whaler is always well-priced with very helpful and amenable staff. All rooms have expansive ocean views with nice balconies and (often)... More

This place has great views in every room, particularly from the 3rd floor. The staff are incredibly nice and the place is very clean and well-maintained. Really close to Nye Beach so you can get up and walk right over to your favorite breakfast or coffee place. Also, a quick walk to the beach front with a long beach to... More

Pros: Indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and excercise room, ocean view from the 3rd floor, beach is across the a street with no traffic, continental breakfast, plenty of parking, frig, private balcony with sliding door, and elevators. It has a seperate bath toilet from the sink and frig. The price of $110.00 a night is a steal. Cons: droor space and... More

2nd time staying at The Whaler. 1st time went with husband and dog, this time came alone for business. The motel has a great business rate. Room was very clean. Love the view. The staff were very friendly upon check in. Every time I come to Newport I plan to keep coming back here.

The Whaler is a great place to stay. We were there for three days. We had weekday special so the price was great for our room. We stayed on the first floor but the view was wonderful. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. We would stay again.

This isn't a romantic, sweep you off your feet 5 star hotel. It is a basic, perhaps dated, hotel room with a view of the damn ocean so quit complaining! It was a fine room, clean, quiet. The ocean is over there, so it's a great view, and 2 minutes to walk to the beach. I loved it, would go... More

The Whaler is an immaculately clean hotel with a fantastic view. We loved our ocean view and having the windows cracked at night so we could hear the waves. There is a nice looking indoor swimming pool. The front office offers coffee, tea and popcorn. Breakfast was basic and consisted of muffins, bagels, toast and fruit. I would happily stay... More

We brought our elementary students to Newport for fun on the beach and a visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The hotel was so clean and nice! We reserved four of the large rooms and they had balconies and each room slept 5 people. It was so nice to get up in the morning and go out on the deck... More
