We were headed for Cannon Beach, but it was getting late, drove off 101 towards the ocean. Didn't know there was a whole district called Nye Beach....funky old street or two. Found The Whaler, dog friendly, breakfast also....light eats with bagels, coffee, cereals ....it was sufficient and good. Tea/juices, milk etc. top floor room, double queen beds, very clean, nicely... More

My wife and I stayed here when we visited our daughter and her husband, who live in Portland. They also stayed at this hotel the night we all spent in Newport. The room was rather minimalist in terms of décor- just a few pictures, a small table with two chairs. The desk and dresser were both quite small- not a... More

Great location within walking distance to historic downtown Nye Beach town and overlooking the spectacular Nye Beach on the Oregon coast. The hotel itself is somewhat dated but nonetheless the rooms are a good size with a fridge, sink, microwave, dishes and a flat screen tv. All rooms overlook the ocean and all have a private balcony accessible through sliding... More

Great view, but there are no screen on the slider. No one wants fly in their room. Great view, but there are no screen on the slider. No one wants fly in their room. From our arrival we were favourably impressed. Quick check in with all the details we needed. The room is a little dated but immaculately clean.linens and towels good quality, lots of hot water and a good shower head. All the basics are there plus the view. All good. Hard to beat sitting in the sun with a cold one watching... More

The Whaler Inn is our favorite motel on the entire Oregon coast. We stay there every time we stay in Newport. It is medium size and everything is close together. Three stories and every room has an ocean view. We sat on the deck this week and watched pods of Gray Whales feeding just off shore. The indoor pool and... More

I was somewhat nervous about making reservations at the Whaler due to some reviews on TA, but my husband and I checked in around 4 p.m. on a Tuesday and were given a 2nd floor room. When we checked into our room I couldn't believe how wonderful it was, especially for the price. Our room had been completely refurbished at... More

comfortable room, no complaints, nice balcony overlooking Nye Beach (but it was fogged in most of our time there). Crashing ocean waves blocked out any noise, which we liked, but might be too much for others. free popcorn in lobby!

The Whaler has balcony rooms with awesome views of the ocean and easy access to the beach. Continental breakfast was sufficient and staff was quiet and unobtrusive. We will definitely stay here again and again. Room prices were very good. Our room was an end room on the third floor so we had a view of the lighthouse also. If... More

We had reservations for the hotel down the street but arrived a day earlier. We checked into the whaler and had a room on the ground floor beside the main office. It had a nice little view if the ocean, comfy and clean rooms and a good continental breakfast and popcorn :) the price was the same as we were... More
