Im not a hotel snob. I've stayed in swanky places and had my share of crummy places. Depending on what the visit is for, I book on how I feel . We came down to Newport for a last minute one-nighter and thought for $59 let's just do it. I was feeling cheap, and you get what you pay for.... more

The room I had had a horrible smell of citris orange. The managements sugguestion was to open up the window, tried that didnt work. Had to sleep with window open all night due to the strong smell with my young grandkids in the room. No place to make coffee but didnt stay long enough to think about it. Stayed one... more

I had originally booked at the Shilo right on the edge of the water but the Econo Lodge is a couple blocks east and for about $40 less. (Total about $79.) I was given a downstairs room but asked for a top floor room with water view (there are rooftops of duplexes in between you and the water.) $10 more.... more

We stayed there two years ago and was thrilled with the view and location (2 Blocks from the beach) and the price. We returned this summer to find the management not very helpful with plumbing problems in our tub and the police were there on two separate occassions for irrate person who interviewed there and then two days later for... more

Great hotel for the Newport marathon! It's close to the start of the race. I got an ocean view room, with a small refrigerator, microwave, broadband and wireless. The manager or owner was friendly, knowledgable, gave us recommendations on where to eat, where to do laundry, and gave us late checkout so I could take a shower after the race.... more

The room was basic and clean but the bathroom needed to be renovated. I don't think there was even a light in the toilet/shower area. Whatever they use to clean the room had a fake peach smell that I found nauseating. There are two levels of rooms that face Hwy-101 and 1 level that is downstairs and faces the road... more

I was very apprehensive about staying, i've had BAD luck with econolodges, but this one seemed to get good reviews so I took a chance. The rooms were VERY clean, nice tv, microwave, & fridge, the hotel owner was VERY friendly. No bugs!! For the price, this hotel was a real bargain! more

I got a very cheap rate online for this room, which was great because I had just made a last-minute decision to drive from Portland and visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium with my young son. Most of the other Newport hotels were booked. The room was super-tiny but seemed clean enough, and the small bathtub was sparkling -- that's always... more

We have stayed at the Econo lodge two times this month. Each time it was for 3-4 days. It is clean, quiet and close to the beach. The people there are very nice and helpful. We have been going to Newport for business and the other hotels are pricey for any lenghth of time. We have stayed at the others... more
