We stayed two nights in August and even though we had reservations we were told to find a spot we liked and claim it. No cell reception, TV or wifi at your spot. The so called beach access is a hike through the shrubbery and then a very dangerous dart across Hwy 1 in the fog. Better to drive your... More

This was a great getaway for us close to Portland and Salem lest work at 3:00 and was sitting by campfire by 6:00 what a great way to start the weekend grounds were quiet sites well maintained Staff were accommodating even when something came up and we couldn't get checked out on time everyone was very helpful. We will be... More

This place is terrible, they do not give you the truth when you ask questions. They told us there was a view of the ocean and there is not. They have heavy ground and tree cover so there is no sunshine which is what you go to the beach for. They stuff everyone into little spaces that cannot even accommodate... More

Whaler's Rest is a great location right across the road from the ocean and a few miles south of Newport, Well managed, clean, and many activities. Although the sites are somewhat close together there is a good deal of privacy because of how they are situated and the heavy ground and tree cover. Stay there every September.

It is very well-maintained everywhere and each site has a sewer. There is an adult area on the north side with clubhouse and exercise room. The bathrooms were clean, and they even wash the shower curtains so they aren't grungy & moldy! I don't use the showers, but always look at them because it's indicative of the attention to detail.... The positives: All RV sites have full hook-ups, including sewer, which means no need to line up at the dump station when leaving--very handy. All of the guests were very nice and neighborly (people left valuables unattended all over the place, indicating little likelihood of theft), and staff was at least somewhat so (more on that below). Playground for the... More

Spots are so close together. I have a 24 foot and had to park my car sideways so it would not be in the road. They have stupid rules like not leaving your dogs unattended at any time. They are Very Strict about the 5 mph speed through the park. No campfires after 10pm. This includes inside the RV while... More

Ranger was so helpful at check in..let us know what sites were still open. The park was very full but still had choice of what site we wanted. Everything is so well taken care of and clean. We loved being able to walk to the beach. We will be staying here again. There is always something to do. So much... More

We had a very enjoyable stay, the park is lovely and restful. We made our reservations by phone with Thousand Trails and the process was quick, easy and painless. Check in was also quick and easy; the Ranger was helpful, friendly and efficient. He even came by as we were hooking up to be sure we were OK, and didn't... More
