Our room was under the office, which we all know is 24/7. Room smelled closed in, so I immediately plugged in a B&B WORKS bulb, and opened the, I repeat THE lower window. The windows need replacing with something that allows air to pass through. No fan. No air. Stuffy and HOT. Too hot to sleep. Bed was VERY, YEP... More

The view is amazing there is beach access between wing C and D. The room was big enough for our family of four but the room was dirty! Dust bunnies in every corner and the bathroom was worst there was a brown spot on the wall that looked like feces... The indoor pool looked dirty as well... We stayed in... More

It appears that the Shilo chain bought several beachside hotels and put them under one umbrella unit. They are old, there is no way around it, and they have not been kept up. There were several items that were problems in our room. First, when we went to make coffee in the room, the cups were dirty and it looked... More

We booked the deluxe king room. The room was lovely, clean and had a prefect ocean view. We ate at the restaurant and played a few games of pool. The only annoying thing was how slow the elevator was, but even that was only when tour buses were there with 50+ people. We would absolutely stay here again. The surrounding... More

After staying at mostly big chain hotels, I was a little put off by the check in process, which seems pretty antiquated. Staff were friendly and I got a really nice AAA rate for a pet friendly room. As the check in process seemed to take forever, I was able to stare past the front desk at the amazing view... More

Beware-no air conditioning or heat in these rooms! If you are hot blooded like me then it can be rough! We had to sleep with all the windows open which can get loud but the ocean breeze was nice. The room had a funky musky smell to it-it could use some febreeze! Otherwise the staff is friendly, great access to... More

We stay in many hotels and based on that experience, it was average. There are so many more reasonable choices in Newport that in the future, we will select one with complimentary breakfast and one that does not charge extra for an upgrade. When making reservation, we asked for a top floor near elevator. We were assigned to a bottom... More

Affordable excellence is a very good description but they have just a little ways to go. Service is amazing and the rooms are wonderful. Breakfast needs more healthy choices, no more white bread folks. But in general we were very impressed with this Hotel.

We stayed one night in August, and we were thrilled by the ocean view from our room. The front desk staff were polite and friendly. The room was typical motel style, but very spaceious. The Shilo Inn is located just outside the town, but literally on the beach. We were lucky to see the fantastic sunset. Will recommend travellers to... More

You can't beat the location, but the hotel was mediocre at best. The worst stuff: the toilet wasn't working in our 1st room, and they had to switch us to the room next door. This is annoying to say the least when it's 9:00 at night and we have a 7 year old. The next day they didn't clean our... More
