My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast. The room was nice and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and many choices to choose from. Jacuzzi tub outside was romantic even though the jets quit working towards the end of our one hour soak. The owner filled the tub as hot as she could... More

Dear Jeanine0907, Thank you for writing such a lovely review. I am very happy you liked the breakfast. I will put a choice of water temperatures on the Zen Bath reservation form as I realize it is very hot for many people and mostly only our Japanese guests like it really warm. I did have the jet checked but it... More

A much-needed rest and retreat at the beach! The room was intimate, beautifully decorated and very calming. Delicious breakfast, with several choices, served in a lovely private dining area. We very much enjoyed talking with Mr. and Mrs. Smigal, who made us feel welcome and were very respectful of our privacy. We hope to return!

We just finished up our Oregon vacation, and one of the highlights was our 2-night stay in Manzanita at the Zen Garden B&B. We stayed in the smaller Zen room and it was fine for the two of us since we were out much of the day touring along the coast. The bed was quite comfortable and we had nice... More

My husband and I had little time to find a place to stay in Manzanita, so we were happy to hear that Zen Garden had a room available. We stayed in the smaller room but the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom (with plenty of hot water) was a good size, and Mrs. Smigel, the host, was friendly and out... More

The place was perfect even before we arrived. Our host, Mrs Smigel was clear with instructions and her requirements for checkin etc. Being we travel a great deal, we love policies & procedures which means: no microwaves (thank you for being green), no rubbish left behind, bring own beach towels etc. We totally understood all the reasons. Our room was... More

My wife and I have stayed at Zen Garden B&B a few times each year, since discovering the place in 2009. Its quiet location, its close proximity to the beach and to trails in Nehalem Bay State Park, its tastefully decorated and comfortable rooms (complete with shelves of interesting books to browse), and Mrs. Smigel's delicious breakfasts -- all compel... My husband and I stayed four nights at Zen Garden as part of longer Oregon trip. We stayed in the suite. We were originally uncomfortable sending a check to pre-pay for our stay, but it worked out fine. We found the location in Manzanita very good for exploring the coast (hiking state park trails) and it is about 30 minutes... More

My husband and I consider ourselves to be friendly, personable people, and we felt that Mrs. Smigel was very difficult to engage in conversation. She behaves as though she is suspicious of everything, and you do feel as though you are being watched. The experience was a bit creepy to say the least. We stayed in the Zen room, which... More

My husband and I stayed here last weekend and had a very relaxing time! It is a super quiet location as it is the last street in Manzanita, no homes across the street, and a short half block walk to the beach. Drive to the main street of town takes a couple of minutes, about 1.5 miles away. Could easily... More

Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast provided a great stay for us in Manzanita. The house is located right by the ocean and just steps away from a park. We hardly heard any traffic while staying there, a great reprieve. The rooms are cozy, clean and had everything we needed, including a good selection of tea and movies. Our hostesse was... More
