My husband and I recently visited Zen Garden B&B for two nights. Mrs. Smigel was absolutely lovely and very accommodating. Her culinary skills are great. We definitely looked forward to her home made breakfasts in the morning. The beach entrance is at the end of the road and the coast line is absolutely stunning. We will definitely visit again! Thanks... More

My husband and I planned a last minute get away and were lucky to find 3 nights vacancy at this lovely home. Mr. and Mrs. Smigel have shown great attention to detail in decorating, adding numerous thoughtful touches. There is an extensive library, a large living room (in the Hiroshige suite), adequate bathroom, and charming bedroom (decorated in blue and... More

The room was neat and clean. It had a cozy feel that gave it a personal welcome touch. The breakfast was timely and excellent. The fresh produce and care in preparation was deeply appreciated. The site was central to beach hiking and towns along the coast. It had free wifi which came in handy since the TV only played DVDs.... More

My wife I spent three wonderful nights at the Zen Garden. The house is on the far south end of town, with the State Park and the beach only steps away. If you are looking for a peaceful few days on the Oregon Coast, within reach of cool shops and warm, hospitable restaurants, you can't go wrong at Zen Garden.... More

The Hiroshigi suite is very nicely furnished and comes complete with a vast array of books to peruse & a huge flat screen tv. It's a short walk to the beach in a quiet area of town. However, it is on the bottom floor with the owner's home above and beginning at 6:45 every morning you can hear every step... More

Dear travelerD5102CI, Thank you for your very kind review. I am very glad you enjoyed it here. I do understand that it is not totally quiet; it is a house not an hotel built with soundproofing. But hopefully there was enough quiet here, no traffic, noisy people or adjacent businesses to detract from the peace. There should have been no... More

We stayed for my birthday over the long 4th of July Weekend and couldn't have been happier. The Hiroshigi suite is beautiful! It's like having your own place. The Zen gardens so peaceful and the Japanese soaking tub a perfect end to a chillly day on the beach. We loved Mrs. Smigel who is so kind and friendly and so... More

The Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast was one of the best places I've ever stayed. Mrs. Smigel was the kindest person from the moment she answered the phone to take our reservation, to the morning we left and she had a pleasant chat with us. Her communication was great. We knew everything about the area well before we arrived. I... More

My wife and I came all the way from Central Florida to Portland, and then out to the Oregon coast. While we found Cannon Beach a "bit of a madhouse" with too many people (though Ecola State Park is to die for), Manzanita proved to be our cup of tea. And there was the perfect place to stay - the... We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed our stay very much. So peaceful, great breakfast, close to the beach (at this time of year, for great walks) and convenient for touring North or South from there. The room is fine, if a bit small. Very clean and we'll cared for. Breakfast is fine. The owner is friendly and helpful. She replaced the feather pillows with non allergenic pillows and made sure to provide gluten free options for breakfast. It is a very short walk to the beach and a nice, quiet location.
