Our bed and breakfast experience was great, we'll be back! The price included an art print by David Manuel, breakfast, a 2-room suite, a tour of the museum, a history film, a cinema film, a prix fixe meal in La Grande at Ten Depot, and a private soak in the mineral waters. Yes, there are birds on the property, ducks,... More

So you go stay at an establishment where the rooms are decorated with goodwill type antiques and the entire former Victorian building is now littered with "western decore meets thrift shop" and people tell you that you need to appreciate it because you have no idea what it took to restore it??? For years I passed this place with wonder.... More

Those who wrote bad reviews should be ashamed and never set foot in history.your obviously lazy and have no idea what it is to work hard to restore a bit of history. Nor do you appreciate what it took to bring this fantastic building back to life. Shame on you!!! We loved it. Yes it's a restoration in progress and... More

My husband and I stayed here for our honey moon. The whole buildig is just Amazing! The owners have kept true to the charm of the building! We loved the old antiques and the relaxing music. We spend 3 hours at night walking the halls in our bath robes after a nice relaxing soak in the natural spring fed tubs... More

I am local and was ecstatic to see hot lake open. I had extensive knowledge of it's history. I was nervous to find out the owners where the same people who got chased out of a government building in Joseph. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and attended the open house. Everything that was "restored" Just had been... More

I was so excited about visiting the Hot Springs in La Grande. I love historical buildings and history. This was going to be the perfect send off to our week vacation out of the state. We arrived late on a hot August night--no other visitors seem to be checked in. We were “greeted” by a peacock perched to the side... More

Back in 1999, as the still photographer for a movie being filmed there, I'll never forget the windowless and desecrated shell that Hot Lake Hotel was. That night, as the bats flew by my head on the third floor, I remember feeling so sad about the "death" of this once important historical location. That was before the Manuels purchased and... More

You have to like this place for its historic restoration efforts and for the artist, not because it is a plush first class hotel. The rooms are large, comfortable and interesting. They are nicely done, although they don't have all the amenities---no TV, old plumbing, etc. The hosts and staff are very welcoming and helpful. Though it's a large old... More

I'm not sure where the positive experiences come from but my own was real short of a pleasant one. As other guests revealed a very dirty and unsafe place to stay. The tubs in the garden area had debris in tubs and bird feces surrounding area. Our room had windows that were unable to open. As explained in an earlier... More
