This is a gem of a hotel. Just be fore-warned (and we were when I called to make the reservation) that the rooms on the third floor are very small. The room we had (308) would have been fine for a single person; for two it was a bit cramped (smallish "queen" bed, one armchair, closet-sized bathroom). But the great,... More

We arrived to find out previous guests had not checked out of our room, and it was 4pm. The woman at the desk was helpful and gave us 2 separate rooms with private bathes instead of the double room we were going to share with another couple. The 2 rooms were more expensive, but we did not have to pay... More

My wife and I stayed for the weekend - and had a wonderful time. The property is a little run down, but that also gives it it's character. No tv or phones in the rooms - love it!!! Dinner was good - not great - a little pricey. Breakfast was GREAT - and a bargain. Sitting on the back deck... More

The lodge is a historic lodge with a great old lodge feel. The lobby is rustic and inviting and the location is close to Wallowa Lake. As an older building, you won't find elevators, so 3rd floor rooms can be challenging if you are hauling up a lot of luggage or need to go back to the car to get... More

I had always wanted to stay at the lodge, so I am glad I finally did. The lodge is a classic beauty, and you really do feel like you step back in time when you are there since you leave a lot of modern amenities behind. We didn't miss the TV, AC, or telephone, but an elevator might have been... More

We reached the Wallowa Lake Lodge late in the day after a wonderful but long ride up from Portland. The WLL is a classic mountain Lodge from the early 20th century. The owners manage to keep it up to date in all the important respects The restaurant serves good food, not too fancy. We had dinner and a breakfast there... More

I love everything about old lodges...no tv's, no clocks, small rooms and the wonderful ambiance. The grounds are beautiful with Adirondack chairs on the creek and the lake. They did have internet for those of you that need it. This lodge became home for two days because of the pouring (as opposed to drizzling) rain. We sat by the fireplace... More

We stayed at the Wallowa Lake Lodge many years ago. Enjoyed it then and had even a better time on a recent visit. The rooms have been update without loosing the :classic lodge" experience. The lobby area is as inviting as ever and harkens back to the New Deal days. Front desk service was impeccable. This is a true find... More

This historical lodge is situated at the head of the lake 5 miles out of Joseph. It has a lovely lawn going down to the lake, but unfortunately trees obscured a view of the lake from our 2nd storey room. Although not modern, the facilities were adequate and the lighting in particular exceeded many more modern hotel rooms.

If you like history, as we do, you'll appreciate this lodge. But if you lean more towards "upscale" and convenience, this is not the place for you. Granted, we did stay in one of their smaller rooms, but, boy, was it ever tiny! Very little room to even walk around in. The sink was in the bedroom, there was no... More
