I describe it as a trip "back to basics" because this is a small inn located on a beautiful river in Southern Oregon. You will not find digital TV (or a TV at all, for that matter) in the rooms, nor internet hookups. However, if you want to get away, perhaps to enjoy some world famous fly-fishing, a scenic trip... more

The ONLY negative thing I can say about the entire place is that the sink is right next to the bed in the Streamside Cabin. So plan on waking up about the same time. The rooms have lots of real wood paneling, cabinish decor, a cute tiny living room with gas fireplace, wonderful amenities, and the softest sheets you'll ever... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay in our cabin on the N. Umpqua River. The setting is very pleasant and unique. We had no problems with noise from the adjoining cabins; we also had pleasant conversations with other guests on the back deck over coffee, with the river babbling below us. We did the inn's dinner one night too. My... more

What an absolutely gorgeous spot. We stayed in a streamside cabin, where I relaxed with a book on the deck, watching the rapids in the river below, while my husband tried his hand at fly fishing. It is just over an hour to Crater Lake and hikes along the river and to the many waterfalls abound. If you like a... more

A quick trip to the Umpqua wine country lead us to Steamboat Inn. This is a place that offers the perfect balance of comfort, beauty, cuisine, and service. We had dinner on our first night starting with hors d'oeuveres in the library, and ending with great conversation with Innkeeper's Jim and Sharon Van Loan at the dinner table. We loved... more

Located right on the North Umpqua river, this is a great place to base camp from while exploring the area. Our room was in the streamside cabins with a view of the river below. It may not be the lap of luxury but it was clean, warm and a very nice place to stay. Hopefully the people next door are... more

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and two sons, ages 23 and 16 in a two bedroom cabin. The dinner was pricey but delicious. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The cabin was clean and well-equipped; very peaceful and comfortable. It was an excellent location for our day trip to Crater Lake. We would definitely stay here... more

Based on some of the earlier reviews (ie rooms are rustic, someone saw a mousetrap), I didn't have high expectations for this place. Boy, was I wrong!! It was absolutely gorgeous! We stayed in one of the Streamside Cabins. It was beautifully decorated and the room was very spacious. There was a little "stove"/fireplace that was used for heating the... more

We loved this Inn--we stayed in the Riverview Suite--oh my! what a beautiful spot overlooking the Umpqua River. The room was beautiful-very spacious with a fireplace and a soaking tub. Sharon, the innkeeper made dinner for us--what a sweet lady! We would definitely return to this B & B. more

The Steamboat Inn is in a beautiful location on the N. Umpqua river. I thought the cottages were a bit rustic, but comfortable. We did find a few mousetraps around, which didn't bug me but I felt I should mention it because some people would be freaked out by that. The main hit of the trip were the dinners----one night... more
