Unfortunately for us the hotel did not live up to expectations gained from reading previous reviews on Trip Advisor. On arrival we discovered that the hotel had been booked for a wedding. This meant that both the bar and restaurant were effectively out of bounds for us, unless we wanted to feel like gatecrashers. I wish all hotels would inform... More

Spent an anniversary night with them. It was delightful. The staff went way out of their way to make it a special evert. Hotel is charming. Built in 1921. Old, but very nicely updated. Restaraunt is upscale with a grand view. The room didn't come with breakfast, but the restaraunt is reasonable and Hood River (3 miles) has many good... More

Carl, Awesome to hear! We always try our best to “add” to whatever special occasion we can pick-up on while talking to you! And it’s also good to hear you found some of the many gems we have here in the Columbia Gorge! Amazing sites to see all year round. More

My sister and I stayed for 2 nights and loved the hotel's historic feeling and the grounds were beautiful. Hotel is set on a waterfall which made it memorable. We had a glass of wine and sat at the edge of the waterfall on a lovely wooded swing each night. It is expensive and no one was there to help... More

This hotel has a great historic feeling without being pretenious. It was very relaxing and the staff was very friendly. Great ambience and the view and waterfall are outstanding. The rooms are comfortable , not huge and luxurious, but I don't think you should expect that from an older, historic property.

Great location here. Right on the river with a waterfall! It has a lot of old world charm... But that charm comes with oldish rooms that are small and the windows looking at the river are small (not tiny, but smaller than they should be). The restaurant needs help. We had the steelhead and the halibut. Both were overcooked. But,... More

The Columbia Gorge Hotel is a classic, historic building set high on the cliffs of the Columbia Gorge. The view of the Columbia River is dramatic, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped with a real river running through the property culminating in a waterfall flowing into the river. The building and rooms have been renovated and modernized, resulting in a... More

Thank you for your Review, I am always happy to hear that our guests have enjoyed both the restaurant and the hotel. I am also happy to inform you that we have just purchased new black marble vanities and sinks for all the bathrooms and will be installing them this winter. The new vanities will allow plenty of room for... More

We love old, historic hotels and have stayed at many. The Columbia Gorge is not only spectacular for its views; the grounds were lovely and the staff was very accommodating. I loved the fact that each room was decorated differently with different beds and that the maid let us peak. The front desk helped us book a rafting trip on... More

KPetschke, We also hope to see you this Thanksgiving. Our chef has written the menu for the buffet. It will be a traditional affair with Turkey, Ham with a rum raisin sauce and all the other traditional fixings. He has also rolled back the pricing for the buffet to $26 for adults to help ease the pain of these trying... More

I've driven by the hotel quite a few times, and finally got the chance to stay there last week. The hotel reminds me of Rosario, in the San Juans -- you can imagine the rich and famous hobnobbing with movie stars while sipping martinis and champagne. Fast forward 100 years, and not a lot has changed. The hotel is showing... More

The_Style Thank you for your review, and I too wish the highway wasn’t there. We have looked into replacing all the windows in the building, but with the regulations for being on the National Historical Registry the price to do so is almost tripled in cost; to the tune of 80 plus thousand dollars. Needless to say we still want... More

My sister and I stayed for 3 nights and loved it! We had connecting rooms that shared a bath. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and you can tell they are upgrading the inside to its original splendor. I had the best lamb chop I have ever eaten in the hotel dining room. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even... More

Mary R, Thank you for your Review, I am happy to hear that you and your sister had such a nice time. We like to think of all our guest as part of our extended family. My husband and I did an overnight here on our way to a wedding and had decided to add a day or two and make it a long weekend. We needed a place that was dog-friendly (have a mini dachshund), but wanted to stay someplace better than just an average roadside motel. I was hesitant after reading some negative reviews,... More

Katyc18, I am happy you and the Dachshund had a nice stay here at the hotel, but I am a little concerned with your dinner. I have reviewed your comments with the Chef and he has assured me that he will review it with his staff and fix the problem. The next time you’re in town please ask for me,... More
