This is a homemade hotel, not a chain. And it looks like it's right off the freeway but there's a couple buildings set back quite a bit and have fantastic views of the river. They are super friendly and the suite was huge with a fireplace and lots of little extras. It is a place that feels like they are... More

Thanks, glad you and (your dog!) enjoyed staying with us. We've been homemade since my grandparents started from scratch, and will keep putting work into continuing to grow our little place and make it even better each time. Thanks! More

I've stayed at 2 other hotels in Hood River and thought the Vagabond Lodge was the best fit for me and my pooch! I read the reviews on this website, and though most are favorable, I didn't understand the one just written a day before my stay here?! It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but it is completely adequate for all my... More

Thanks for your review. We'll always provide all our guests with a clean, comfortable stay; it's one of our most basic promises to our guests. We always welcome feedback, whatever the nature, to improve our little hotel. And we deffinitely agree that the people make the Hood River community such a great place to live and visit! We're going to... More

If you want a place close to shopping in Hood River yet experience peace and quiet go to Vagabond Lodge. Yes it is an older facility but very nicely kept up. Very clean and the views are worth more than the price you pay. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. More

Thanks, our housekeepers do love to make sure everything in a room is ready for friends/guests. We're currently doing some work on our grounds as well so everyone can enjoy the views more, with more grassy areas and picnic tables overlooking the river to come. Thanks again! More

Now I admit the the two night stay was on a gift certificate that I won from the HR chamber, but the room and surroundings are so nice I would be happy to spend my own hard earned $$ to stay there. The room was very clean and the river view from the balcony was outstanding. Although this is an... More

I am happily going back to the Vagabond Lodge this week , timing to get the orchards of Hood River in full bloom. This will be our 3rd stay ,# 1 and 2 were wonderful. The room , staff , local area are all fabulous .When I speak of lush surroundings it is because when you first get there ,... More

Thanks and yes, we much prefer actually talking with guests too! That's one reason why we don't have much/any online bookings: we like to talk with people. Thanks again, we'll keep on improving things even more over time. More

When you're driving to the hotel, you pass two really nice hotels. Then you see this really out-dated hotel, and start to think that this must be why it's so cheap.... But you open the door, and the room is huge (we got the view suite, so I can't say that this is true of the cheaper rooms)! Seriously, it... More

Thanks for the review! Our water comes straight from mountain glaciers, so it doesn't have the usual chlorine or fluoride found in other location's water. We did get coffee makers for each and every room, and there is always coffee, hot cocoa, tea, and spiced cider in the office. Thanks! More

We wanted to base out of Hood River for a few short day hikes, 16-18Apr. I was hesitant to book the Vagabond based up on some of the review's I had read, though it had every amenity I always look for in a unit. I booked at the last minute, which isn't easy. This is the kind of place that's... More

Glad you enjoyed your stay (and the view). Most of our rooms have views of the river, some have balconies as well. The best way to reserve the room you would like would be to call ahead! Thanks again. More

This place was recommended by a fellow photographer and it is a real find! It is an older facility - maybe 1980's. The motel is quite large (can't see that from the street) and the grounds are quite attractive. The rooms are immaculate and very spacious and the beds are comfortable. But that isn't the real draw, it's the view!... More

Thanks for your review! We tried to build along the cliff in a way that would create more quiet and relaxation, a place you could hear and see more nature than commotion. We'll keep upgrating as time allows, and we'll always keep our rates reasonable and fair. Thanks again and see you next time! More
