We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay in one of the rooms in the building on the bluffs, with a good view of the Columbia River from our second floor balcony. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and parking access easy. The price was very reasonable. Having to drive a few minutes to get downtown was definitely worth it... More

I really wanted to love this place, but we paid more for a balcony room only to be given a room basically at ground level with a (at best) so-so view of the gorge. The room was dated and a bit dingy, with a stain on the carpet greeting us just inside the door. The bathroom setup was awkward -... More

Thanks for your review and feedback! We've got a few updates planned and on order to update our rooms more, thanks for bringing those things to our attention. Some guests like the sink and tub to be separate, so one person can get ready while another is in the shower, but that's not for everyone. Our new building has (very)... More

I am a regular Vagabond customer. I keep returning because of the excellent and consistent service, dependably clean and well appointed rooms, and the setting. Last night I was fortunate to be able to say in one of their newly constructed rooms. The room was spacious, a/c and bathroom fans quiet, the dual shower heads very cool, and king bed... More

Thanks for your review and for staying with us! I'll check into shading the transom window from that morning light, and getting some more extra pillows to have in those King rooms. We have a few more touches for our rooms on the way as well. Thanks again and see you next time! More

Don't let the name fool you, this place is quite nice. Not in the heart of town, but very convenient to I-84, and only a few minutes driving from town. It looks small and a little dingy when you drive by, but there are sparkling new buildings and very pretty grounds with great views set back from the road. We... More

Thanks for your review! Yep, because our original building is the only visible one from the road, people are pleasantly surprised by the newer rooms and views along the back of our little spot. Glad you enjoyed our newest building, opened just a couple months ago! Thanks again. More

We stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking the Gorge. The grounds are wooded with flowering plants and bushes. Very relaxing to sit on the balcony watching the view or wandering the spacious grounds. We only stayed one night on our way west but would have lived to stay a week. Pet friendly, and our dog enjoyed the walks... More

With so many cookie-cutter hotels out there, it is refreshing to learn that inns like the Vagabond still exist. The accommodations were roomy and felt like an old, yet comforting, vacation home from a bygone era. And, the location was stunning. We arrived at night and awoke to an expanse of three (or four?) large windows facing the Columbia river.... More

My wife stayed here three nights while on our motorcycle trip and we were very impressed with the new annex they have added. We stayed in room 69 that was very nice and large. It had a microwave, refrigerator and small coffee maker. This room was a handicapped room with parking right outside. The staff were also friendly and very... More

We found out about Vagabond Lodge from Hotel Impossible: although it was a hotel in trouble, the problem was not lack of care, or cleanliness, rather financial management, which guests naturally do not care about! Stayed at this place for a night. The room was clean, with very old furniture (had some trouble turning on the TV; and the phone... More

Thanks for your review! Yes, new bedding has been ordered and is on the way. Some of it is made-on-order, so it takes a little time to make and ship. We'll keep updating our rooms as well. Keep checking in on our progress and let us know how we're doing, so we can make each visit better than the last!... More

Great views of the Columbia River but loud due it's close proximity to the HWY and train tracks. The rooms were basic but clean. Staff seemed friendly enough. Price was cheap and they're pet friendly. I was a woman traveling alone and was a bit nervous because I really didn't see anyone around during my stay. Overall not a bad... More

Thanks for your review, and for letting us know of your concerns. We always have staff onsite and around the property. Typically during the summer, a lot of people are out and about enjoying Hood River so you'll see mainly staff around the hotel. We also have rooms away from the road that are quietly overlooking the river. Please do... More

We spent Thursday/Friday night at this motel which we learned about on a TV Show. We stayed in a suite with full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, bed in the living room and a separate bedroom. It also had a gas fireplace and a large jacuzzi tub in one of the bathrooms. A neat feature was a third bathroom sink/mirror, etc. which... More
