This place was quite unexpected. Nestled in the middle of nowhere Oregon, we chose this place last minute before heading out on a camping adventure to John Day. We called the owner and explained that we would be leaving Portland after work on Wednesday and she waited up for us to arrive that night close to 10pm. She was extremely... More

The Fossil Motel and RV Park was an absolute delight. Our family just traveled to Fossil to explore the John Day River Territory and were so pleased to find this motel. Owner Anne was so friendly and hospitable, and was very welcoming to our dogs. She had lots of information and suggestions on what to see in the area. And... More

Owner Anne, kind and considerate. It's a very quaint flash back to the 1950's. I imagined weary travelers staying in my room 60 years ago! They are cleaning and painting all rooms. Television, microwave, shower, little fridge. Enough of a respite to get me out of the heat and recover. Although, no air conditioners. Delightfully quiet for me that night.... More

Old concrete block buildings with peeling linoleum flooring and moldy odor. We had a kitchenette which was nice, but overall this place needs a tremendous amount of work. There were deer across the street on the hillside in the morning - a definite plus.

My car broke down in the small town of Fossil and I could not have been more fortunate. The motel (fully remodled and under new owership) was great. The owner, Anne is wonderful, and the town was so welcoming. Anyone who is looking for anything more than what the Fossil Motel has to offer should not be out in the... More

I was fortunate to find this motel on last minute's notice. The owners were friendly, accommodating and interesting (ask them about teaching art to underprivileged Costa Rican children in the off season). The room had a 70's look, but the amenities (lights, cable TV & microwave) were new, functional and the bed was firm. Most of all, the room was... More

I use it for motel-camping while exploring eastern Oregon. It is very plain and has probably not been updated since built. The heater works, there is hot water in the shower, refig and cable TV. All I do is sleep there and it works fine. As to the comments on the "owner's wife", well she is probably at least a... More

While the rooms were acceptable, and relatively clean, the owner's wife was extremely unfriendly and inconsiderate. The owner himself was friendly and very helpful but the attitude of his wife made me very uncomfortable. Would not stay there again.

Cute old cinderblock buildings with metal casement windows, but the rooms are shabby, worn, and tired. The shower was a metal stall with peeling paint; someone hand-wrote arrows with "off" and "on" directions above the knobs. A closet-sized area in one corner of the room was walled off with do-it-yourself sheetrock, for reasons unknown. The mattress was old; an extra... More

Old and shabby. Looks better on the outside than inside. The metal shower had peeling paint and rust. The rooms are badly in need of paint. The bedding was threadbare and the beds were old and squeaky When we opened the door we were overwhelmed with a nasty chemical smell. The owners did not put up much of a fuss... More
