This is the second time we stayed at the Balch Hotel and we enjoyed both times very much! The hotel is immaculate, down to every detail, and as comfortable as staying in a home. Dufur is such a cute quiet little country town, we even went to a church service at the local church (Dufur is so small everyone walks... More

If you need to get away from the noisy city rat race, the peaceful, quiet atmosphere Samantha and Jeff have created at the Balch Hotel is truly wonderful. Beds are cozy and comfortable. And the food is delicious - especially the special Valentines Dinner.

This was our second stay at the Balch Hotel and it was wonderful. Samantha and her crew are great hosts and go out of their way to make sure your stay is everything you could want. Breakfasts are excellent--the homemade apple crisp made my heart flutter it was so good. The hotel has been lovingly restored and the rooms are... More

The owner was wonderful, the staff was so helpful and friendly, nbreakfast was so good I wished I was back there this morning...mmmm. I am very discerning (aka picky) and I would recommend this hotel if you are ANYWHERE in the area...definitely worth it. Watch out for saloon across street-ate the steak special and was sick. The saloon staff seemed nice... More

The place was ok however it was the owners attitude that ruined it for me. The surrounding area is beautiful though but do yourself a favor & stay at a regular hotel or go on down to Bend that place was magnificent.

This was a last minute whim of an idea and we are so glad we stayed. Its great to learn about new places and new things like: cows moo all night long, who knew? Will definitely make plans to go again and stay longer. Very friendly staff, comfortable environment, beautiful grounds.

My husband and I just stayed here for a few days on our (multistop) honeymoon, and it was amazing. It's such a unique hotel - everywhere you look there are things to see, beautiful and charming historic touches. We stayed in the third-floor room with the Mount Hood view and private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tube, and I would highly... More

We took the beautiful fall weekend as an opportunity to drive the 1.5 hours out of Portland to Dufur. What a sweet, quaint town with amazing views of Mt. Hood. The hotel was just perfect. Adore the sunny yet shady patio for a glass of wine or eating breakfast. The staff was very accommodating and did their best to make... More

The hotel was delightful. my room was very comfortable. The bed was great and i slept like a baby. The gardens are gorgeous and the views spectacular. I spent early morning curled up on a chair in the lobby, reading. Very comfortable. The breakfasts were wonderful. they even made me my own gluten free muffin, and the chef Deborah Godfrey... More

While on Cycle Oregon 2014 this year, we were hosted by the owners of this fine restored hotel. What a great place to stay! Rooms were nice, breakfast was to die for and the staff couldn't have been more friendlier. Thank you for opening up your historic hotel to our group.
