This vintage hotel is a little off the beaten track, but well worth at least a two day stay to enjoy the wonderful back country atmosphere, fantastic food, and spectacular scenery and open spaces. Day trips can transport the visitor to the Steens Mountain Loop Road with all its splendor, Malheur Bird Refuge, Diamond Lava Craters. Be certain to arrive... More

We had the pleasure of eating at this establishment with a group of friends. The dinners are served family style and you will not leave the table hungry. Holy cow, so much food. Started with salad, homemade pizza, homemade black bean chili then onto grilled steak, Brusse sprouts and ended with the best bread pudding I had ever had, homemade... More

We spent two nights recently at the Hotel Diamond. This was our second visit, the last one being 20 years ago. Our room was on the ground floor with a very comfortable bed for us and a foldout chair/bed for our grandson. The room was air conditioned and the bathroom was very large. Excellent bedding and towels. Breakfast was continental... More

Between Steenks Mountain and the refuge is the very small town of Diamond. Not far from the French round barn Lovely old place, family owned, in some old and huge shade trees. Relaxing They serve great home made meals to the guests. Easy place to be, hard place to leave. The staff can inform you ff all the good stuff... More

There are only two hotels that I could find in the Steens Mtn area of Oregon. I made my reservation at the Hotel Diamond out of necessity. I was delighted when I got there and found a very nice room and an absolutely delicious dinner. The company was delightful. After dinner, one of the guests had a guitar and the... More

A high desert adventure included this 10 mile off the main highway excursion for dinner. Literally at the end of the paved road, we found a group of buildings, and prayed we were in the correct place. We ventured into the bug filled twilight to the pub in back, and then entered the dining room to be astounded by the... More

Over Memorial Day weekend we took an extended trip home to the Willamette Valley (Or.) from Carson City, Nv. This trip brought us to Diamond Oregon, and the Hotel Diamond. What an absolute pleasure! We stayed one night, but the next time we travel through this area, we will stay for a longer period of time. It was comfortable, charming,... More

We were more or less shamed into going along with friends on a "birding trip" to Diamond, Oregon. The other 8 people had all been before, like the Hotel Diamond, raved about the food, loved looking at birds, etc., etc. So we finally said yes. And were very glad we did. No, not for the birds (sorry birders, but some... More

We were there in December when the hotel opened up for people who were in the area for a Christmas open house at the Round Barn visitor center. As a result, there was no dinner, but they provided stuff for breakfast. VERY nice folks run the place, which is pretty typical in this part of Oregon -- time stands still,... More

This is a little gem. A lovely, comfortable place close to the wildlife refuge that is very much an oasis. The cheeseburger with vegetables that I had for lunch was one of he best I've ever had anywhere (and I'm a Portland so that says something). Romantic, beautiful, and affordable. A+
