We were more or less shamed into going along with friends on a "birding trip" to Diamond, Oregon. The other 8 people had all been before, like the Hotel Diamond, raved about the food, loved looking at birds, etc., etc. So we finally said yes. And were very glad we did. No, not for the birds (sorry birders, but some... More

We were there in December when the hotel opened up for people who were in the area for a Christmas open house at the Round Barn visitor center. As a result, there was no dinner, but they provided stuff for breakfast. VERY nice folks run the place, which is pretty typical in this part of Oregon -- time stands still,... More

This is a little gem. A lovely, comfortable place close to the wildlife refuge that is very much an oasis. The cheeseburger with vegetables that I had for lunch was one of he best I've ever had anywhere (and I'm a Portland so that says something). Romantic, beautiful, and affordable. A+

What a special, quaint and perfect hotel. We had a phenomenal dinner of pork, mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, homemade bread and bread pudding- yum! Room was quiet and clean and bed super comfy. We had a shared bathroom, which we've never done before. Was just great! Picturesque location. Steens Mountain close by. We can't wait to return. A diamond! Thank... More

This was our second stay at this delightful old hotel. If you are looking for quiet surroundings, excellent service, and extraordinary family-style gourmet meals, this is the place. Perfect place to relax and unwind.

Old, quaint hotel in God's country. Enjoy a piece of history and a tremendous meal prepared by the owners and family. When we arrived we were treated to a wonderful aroma of the evening meal in its early stages. Relaxed on the screened in porch while visiting with great friends and enjoying a cool beverage. Awoke to deer in the... More

An excellent place to stay while visiting the Steens Mountain area. The hotel is off the beaten path, at the end of the paved road. There are 3 rooms with en-suite bathrooms and 6 rooms with shared baths. We had room B, which was spacious with a nice bathroom. The family style dinners offered "comfort food" in large portions along... More

Stayed there for two nights this July as we toured Steens Mountain. David and Shirley are friendly and work hard to make everyone happy. The resident dog, Speedy, is friendly and well-mannered. Rooms are very clean and tasteful with A/C and free Wi-Fi. Its rare to have any sort of cell service or internet in these parts, so it was... More

I stayed at the Hotel Diamond for three nights a week ago. I feel so fortunate to have made it my choice as a base for exploring the Steens Mountain, the Alvord Desert, and Diamond Valley/Malheur Refuge area. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, both in the room and in the common areas. There is a beautiful, screened porch... More

This review is only for dinner at the hotel. My husband and I ate dinner at this historic hotel one night while visiting nearby Malheur refuge. I had read about the hotel and the family style dinner that could be reserved. It turned out to be a lovely dinner. The hotel is located in a remote area, the town of... More
