We chose this motel based on reading reviews on trip advisor and price and found it to be delightful. The owner was very nice, the motel was clean and pleasant with a nice little table and chairs on a shaded small deck which we took advantage of with a picnic dinner. Despite being right on Hwy. 97 it was quiet.... More

It was late, watched the sunset @ Crater Lake, knew we needed a room. There were only 2 choices left in town based on the lit signs. We chose Dawson's first based on the outside appearance. It has a "days gone by" look. We got the last room. It was closest to the road. Proprietor asked in the morning if... More

We are bicycle touring the northwest. We have stayed in hundreds of motels like this over the last few years. This motel doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is spotless and extremely comfortable. The positives: spotless clean room, comfortable bed, good a/c, small HDTV, ceiling fan, refrigerator, microwave, good water pressure in sink and shower, friendly... More

Carlene, the owner, works so hard to provide a good experience for her guests. The premises were not designed as a motel so that results in a lot of compromises having to be made. But the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom even has a can of air freshner (as there is no exhaust).

I stayed here for two nights so that I could visit Crater Lake during the day. When the north entrance to Crater Lake is open, it's a very easy 45-minute drive to the rim of the lake, and with the exception of Crater Lake Lodge, you'll be hard-pressed to find lodging that's closer to the park. (Keep in mind that... More

The rooms are glorious and we were welcomed warmly into this comfortable small hotel. The reception room is a highlight - much more comfortable and attractive than the usual functional motel reception. The rooms upstairs are beautiful but those downstairs are comfortable and have everything you need. Closer to the road can be a little noisy, particularly when trucks park... More

I decided to stop here and spend the night during a recent drive from Dixon, California to Yakima, Washington. I read the reviews online and stopped at a couple of the hotels that are right there on highway 97 prior to confirming with this hotel. I'm so glad I chose this one! It is more like a bed-and-breakfast than a... More

I do not understand the positive reviews that this place has. Yes, it has history and yes, it’s a mom&pop establishment, but that does not compensate for the fact that I smelled cat pee in our room. Everything looked tired from the carpets to the décor to the bathroom. The bathroom carpet even had residual strands of hair on it…... More

Unsure where the cat pee comment comes from, I have had no guests with cats or any pets in the room before your visit and reviews written by guests right after your visit have not mentioned the cat pee smell that you complain of. I have had no other complaints on the room that you stayed in Motel 3, when... More

On a spur of the moment we decide to travel to explore Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. Looking on line at the Dawson House Lodge, we saw photos of vintage furbishing in the lodge but were directed to stay in a more typical motel room on the side of the Lodge. The furnishings were sparse but clean. The room... More

This is your great aunt's house....the great aunt you never see, but you spend one night at her house while on vacation. It is described this way because the furnishings can be quirky/interesting and the outside needs some upkeep. but don't let the outside prevent you from spending the night. We were in the "Cowboy room", which had a comfortable... More
